What can replace unnatural feeling veneer?

Q. Hello Dr Caplan, Years ago I had a porcelean veneer put on my front tooth replacing bonding material originally used to fix the the results of a biking accident. Initially the veneer provided asthetic benefits of not staining and restoring stucture, however I think it was too agressive a treatment. Cosmetic Dentistry has come a long way since then and I’m wondering if there are alternatives such as composite bonding which would allow me to remove the veneer which feels unnatural. I have larger front teeth but wanted to shorten/shape them anyway. Most of my original tooth structure is still in place and I’m wondering what options are available to me. Also, I’d appreciate your thoughts on holding out for the possibility of one day resoring the tooth using enamel regeneration which apparently is becoming more of a reality: http://www.rsc.org/Publishing/ChemScience/Volume/2009/10/Enamel_regeneration.asp Thanks for your time and insight. Cheers. -,
A. Enamel regeneration is an interesting possibility but is definitely futuristic at the moment for general use.  Bonding is an option for veneers rather than porcelain but requires a high skill level to produce a good result and will gradually dull over time
