What advice can you give me on periodontal cleaning and root canal surgery?

Q.
1. I was checked at dentist office recently and I have been told that I have gum disease. Do I need arestin put in pockets if my preiodental desease from1mm to 4mm,most of them 1mm-2mm? can they just do professional cleaning and tooth planning without using atibiotics? I was told that I need to pay almost $1300 for antibiotics and $700 for cleaning.
2. How soon I need to put crown over tooth w/root canal?
3. What is the best over counter whitening kit and best toothpaste?
Thank you for your time.

Hi and thanks for the questions

1. The best advice i can give you is to go and see a Periodontal specialist, an expert in gum conditions. They will advise you appropriately for your personal condition and situation

2. Ideally if a crown is indeed indicated following a root canal (sometimes it is not in fact necessary), it should be placed as soon as possible. We sometime wait to see how the tooth heals before doing so but sometimes it’s more urgent to place the crown

3. Crest strips are probably the best ‘over the counter’ but they only whiten your front teeth. They are not available in the UK. Most ‘whitening ‘ toothpastes available here simply remove stains on the surface of your tooth better and do not change the internal colour of your teeth. I’d advise Janina as a good one but for the best advice and results when it comes to actually bleaching your teeth then visit an experienced cosmetic dentist

Best wishes
