Q. Hi, I had a crown fitted on one of my molars about 2 years ago. Just recently I noticed that my gum lining the tooth has turned black. Is this normal? And are there any negative effects of this over time if I leave it without seeing a dentist?
A. This is the crown shiing through the gum. the inside of the crown has metal inside and can cause the gum to look dark, get your dentist to check it next time you see him but there is no urgency to get it checked.
