The gum above my dentures is thick will this shrink

Q. The last of my top teeth were removed and a full denture fitted 2 days ago. The teeth look fine but the ‘gum’ above them is quite thick. It pushes my face out slightly under my nose so my lips look like I’m sucking lemons! Will my bones & gums shrink?

A. Over the next 6 months the gums and bone are going to shrink back and receed. Also there is always some swelling after teeth have been extracted.
The appearance will improve over the next few weeks
