Teeth grinding

Q. I am 54 with small worn down teeth from grinding. I hate them and feel they are very ageing. My dentist says there would be little point having anything cosmetic done because I would just grind them down/away/chip any work. I do believe him, but hate my smile so much that I think false teeth would look better than my own, though they are healthy, just very soft. My 2 front teeth are a filling, they were so bad.

A. Hi many thanks it maybe that if you had a full mouth rehabilitation this would help to build back up your teeth and improve the aesthetics, it would also place the teeth into an favourable grinding position. so that when you did grind the front teeth would protect the back and visa versa. the best option would be to seek the advice of an advanced restorative dentist to help improve your situation as i feel it maybe out of the remitt of the general dentist you see at the moment.
