My Veneer Has Been In Place For 18 Years. Do You Know Of Any Way To Brighten It Up?

Monday, June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I could do with some advice as I don’t have a great amount of knowledge on current cosmetic dental treatments and I’m not too aware of what is available. Can you please let me know how I can brighten up my veneer on my front tooth? This has been in place for the last 18 years and it’s starting to look a little bit dingy. How long is a veneer supposed to last? Would tooth whitening help me with this problem? Thank you for your time.

I Have Multiple Diastema And I Don’t Like The Spaces In Between My Teeth. Is There Any Other Treatment Than Braces To Fix This?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me. I have a problem with my teeth that they have some protrusion and multiple diastema. I am not annoyed about the protrusion but I don’t like the spaces so I had them treated with composite veneers 7 years ago and now my composite veneers have turned yellow. I know I need orthodontic treatment but I am anxious about all braces. What are my other alternatives? I have a video for the case if I can send it? I am 28 years old. Thank you in advance for your reply.

My Dentist Changed My Nice Veneer For An Ugly, Yellow One. Do You Know Why He Changed It?

Thursday, April 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me with something that has been bugging me. My dentist removed an attractive front tooth veneer because it had fallen off once. He said he could use a far superior one so I put my trust in him. After 5 weeks of waiting with a temporary veneer he put an ugly yellow, translucent veneer one on which looks awful and is worse than veneer he removed. He also drilled a lot of healthy tooth away prior to doing this. It has a rough surface to it and completely alters my smile. It has knocked confidence. Do you have any idea why he did this? Thank you for taking the time to reply to my enquiry.

Should a veneer be a different colour to my natural teeth?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012
Q.

Is it normal for a composite veneer done on one tooth to differ in colour from the natural teeth? I had a composite veneer done on one of my front teeth and partly on the other, and the composite veneer looks somewhat artificial and more yellow than my natural teeth.

I was told by an experienced cosmetic dentist that this is normal that composite differs from the natural teeth and that my teeth look natural and that I should not change anything.
In fact he did not want to make the changes I asked because he did not want to drill my teeth and did not see a reason to do it.

But still my teeth don’t look natural to me and I am doubting if I should change anything or leave it as is.
