I Want To Have The Perfect, Hollywood Smile. I Am Unsure Of Which Treatment Can Achieve This. Can You Help?

Friday, October 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello, Dr. I would like your advice please. I have never been happy with my teeth. They’re not too bad, but they’re not too good either. I want to have perfect teeth, as in a Hollywood smile. I am willing to pay whatever the costs are, except that I don’t know what I am looking for exactly? Is it veneers? I am unsure which product/service I need in order to achieve the smile that I want. Please could you advise?

Would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Could I Have a Veneer Put in to Replace a Missing Tooth?

Monday, September 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello and good morning, Dr Hughes. I have a missing tooth next to my front teeth on the left side of my mouth, but on the right side there is still a tooth present. The left side bothers me because the tooth is missing and hasn’t come through, so the tooth next to it has moved over to fill the gap. Would it be possible for me to have a veneer put in place where the missing tooth should be so that both sides are the same, as it really bothers me when I smile because it looks uneven. It is not that obvious to other people, but I myself am really aware of it and it prevents me from smiling. Thank you.

I’m Thinking About Having Dental Implant Treatment In India. Which Qualification Does A Dentist Require To Undertake This?

Friday, August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Gambroudes. I am 42 years old and I’m considering having implants and bridgework done. Is there a certain make or type of implant you would recommend that would last me at least 20 years? I am also thinking of going to India to have it done. What type of qualifications does a dentist need to undertake this treatment? Is there anywhere you could recommend and how long would the treatment take? Will a normal X-ray of my teeth be okay to send to a dentist so they can make some sort of plan? My dentist doesn’t have a cat scan or panoramic X-ray. Many thanks.

I Have Severe Periodontal Disease And This Affects My Confidence Greatly. Could You Give Me Advice On Which Steps To Take?

Friday, August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi, Dr. Gambroudes.  I have severe periodontal disease, most of my teeth are moving and some at the upper front have already shifted. I recently had some treatment from my local dentist and after doing an X-ray, we found out that most of the bones have eroded and it’s not looking good. Ive just started taking Doxycycline to hopefully save my gums. However, I am severely affected with the looks of my teeth and my confidence is absolutely down the drain. I hope you can advice me on what steps I should take.

Thank you.

The Tooth Which Anchors My Bridge Has Worn Away. Is There Anything That Can Be Done To Preserve The Entire Bridge?

Friday, July 25th, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I have a lower 3 tooth bridge. I have had it in place for over 20 years now and it recently became loose on one side. I had a recent X-ray and my dentist told me that the molar which is anchoring it in has lost a lot of tooth structure. This tooth already has a root canal on it. He said by the X-ray it looks like too much tooth has been lost and recommends leaving one tooth of the bridge in place and removing the other 3 crowns of the bridge as well as the molar that has decayed away. Have you ever seen this situation and is there anything else that can be done to preserve entire bridge? Thank you.

I Have Decay In My Roots. My Dentist Tells My It Needs To Be Extracted. Is This Correct Or Is There A Viable Alternative?

Thursday, June 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have sensitivity in an upper molar. My dentist X-rayed and reported decay at the junction of the roots. He said that due to the position of the decay the only remedy he could recommended was an extraction.
My gums have receded somewhat due to my age but if possible I would like to avoid extraction. Is this advice correct or is there a viable alternative? I have an implant next to this tooth and I am worried that the gap left after an extraction could lead to weakening of the implant. Thank you.

I Had Braces Treatment When I Was Young, But Threw Away My Retainers. Please Suggest To Me What I Should Do?

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes. I am 20 years old. I got my orthodontics treatment done when I was in 13 years old. After my treatment my dentist gave me retainers. But I was young and immature and I threw away my retainers as it was difficult to speak while wearing them. But now, last year I noticed that my right side of mandible was a little bulkier than the left one. I got the X-rays all done and got to know that my mandible deviates from one side. As a temporary thing I had a fat transplant procedure. But I feel the fat is going away. Please suggest to me what I should do? I want the permanent treatment for the lifetime. Thanks.

I’ve Been Diagnosed With TMJ. I’ve Been Told The Muscles Will Never Get Out Of Spasm. Is This True?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have been diagnosed with TMJ disorder and it’s due to clenching my teeth after 18 months of trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I have had an X-ray which shows no damage to the jaw joint and it’s been recommended that I ask my dentist for a bite splint which I’m worried will make it worse. The worst thing is the tightness and muffled feeling in my ears. At times it almost feels like my neck is tight and is pulling on everything. I’ve been told the muscles will never get out of spasm once it’s happened and my ears may always be muffled.  Is this true? I hope you can help me with this as it worries me. Thank you for your time.

I Get Pain And Fever Ever Since I Had Root Canal Treatment. Is There Any Reason For This?

Tuesday, April 15th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have a question I hope you can help me with. I had a root canal on one of my upper molars almost three years ago and I had a metal crown fitted. Now, I keep getting a severe cold, fever or a bad neck. I also get severe pain in that particular tooth for around one week and then the pain goes away by itself. I have been to the dentist for normal check-ups, they have X-rayed it, but they can not see anything wrong. Is there any reason for the pain in that particular tooth and do you know of any solution or remedy? Please help me! Thank you.

I Recently Bumped My Tooth Which Has Started To Wobble And Is Hurting A Bit. What Options Do I Have?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I’m 14, and recently I bumped my big adult tooth into something, it seemed a bit wobbly so I became sort of paranoid and began to wobble it. It gradually became looser but it’s not too loose. It’s also hurting a bit. Would I be able to go to my dentist and get brackets to support my teeth because I’m really desperate to get it fixed? I really want there to be another option so my teeth can stay in place. Is there anything I could do to stop in from hurting? Thanks, I hope to get some advice from you.
