Q. My veneer chipped, and I was wondering What the dentist would do to fix it. If it is replaced, How many times can you actually replace a veneer?,

A. In theory you can replace a veneer an infinite number of times. Chipped veneers can be smoothed, replaced and very rarely repaired in composite filling.Rob

Q. Hello, I am interested in finding out how i can get teeth straightening done, when i was in high school i was told i cannot have braces as my roots are too small, i am 27 years old now and would really like to know what alternatives there are for me, i have been researching on dentist treatments abroad as they appear to be more cost effective, I also have a problem with my gums, they were different shapes and sized before, I have visited my local dentist about this and the gums have been controlled but the difference in their size remains. If i am honest i am not keen on veneers but perhaps other methods that do not take so long. I am planning on getting married mid 2010 and i hate my smile, i really want some advice on sorting out my gums and teeth sooner rather then later. I hope you can help. Thank you

A. If your roots are short then orthodontics are not advised . Veneers and gum recontouring are a good option in these cases. In my practice this is a common procedure. The gum recontouring should be done first and left to stabilise for between 6 weeks and 6 months. Following this veneers would be placed to give you a stunning smile.

I was told that the porcelain would never change color…that is why I got the work done. My smile was very white for the first 5 years but has now changed to off-white..not very pretty. I have my teeth cleaned every 3 months and brush and floss 3 times a day. What is going on? I have pictures I can send.
