Q. my two front teeth sick way out what could be done to fix them other than braces

Q. I suffer from severe teeth grinding and i also have bad gum disease although i am only 34 and have never had a filling. i went away travelling and have not seen a dentist for over 5 years. i would like to know if i am treatable and what my options are for a smile makeover as my teeth are now yellowing, there is some movement and the gums are tender sometimes, I have started to become very self conscious and upset about it. Can veneers be fitted if someone has gum disease, what costs am i looking at or do you think i need false teeth?

Q. what is better veneers or crowns

veneers are better if there is alot of enamel left on the tooth and the teeth to be veneered are not already heavily filled.
crowns are more destuctive as more tooth tissue has to be prepared but are more protective when the teeth are more heavily filled or there is little enamel left on the tooth.

Q. I am interested in permanent fangs. I’ve heard of two options– one where you can have your teeth sanded down to a certain point, and have veneers placed over them, and they would be like that, permanent, for 15 or so years before they needed to be replaced. And then the more expensive sort– titanium rod implants where the actual bone is modified to give VERY permanent-no-changing-your-mind-later fangs. Is there any more infortmation on these? More specifically, I’d like to know about the former, because I am interested in having it done. Are these permanent to the point where they will not fall off even eating tough things such as steak? To sleep with the
m on, and have them until the 15 years or so is up? Can you give any more infortmation about these, and if you do them? For how much, if so, and every fifteen years, will I have to pay again? And in the event that I may want to switch over from these to the titanium rod fangs– could I? Thank you.

Q. Hello I have quite big teeth, which I hate. I’d love to have dental surgery of some kind to fix this problem. I’m not quite sure exactly what I would need to have done though. What do you suggest?
A. Thanks for your question, you may wish to consider veneers. These are a thin layer of porcelain which is designed to fit over the front surface of your tooth, similar to a false finger nail, which can be used to improve the size, shape and colour of your teeth. The number of teeth which would need veneers to improve the overall aesthetic appearnace would depend on your smile. I hope this helps.

Q. Hello, i have a front tooth the goes back, the rest of my teeth are fairly straight, Could you tell me, would it be possible to just have one veneer on that tooth or would i have to have the whole lot done? best regards
A. Thanks for your question, it is possible to have a single veneer, to improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile. However, whethervthis would be successful for you would depend on hoe far back the tooth is. I would recommend that you attend your dental practice for a consultation to discuss your options.

Q. I have a partial denture for my upper left and right lateral incisors, but am interested in looking at implants, as this would be a more permanent solution.I admit I have not looked after my teeh very well in the past but I am determined to this time but dont fancy wearing dentures long term – my NHS dentist has mentioned veneers or bridges but not sure about that either. Q. hi i would like ask : the size of my front teeth are quite big and they stick out . i have had treatment in the past to straighten my teeth but im still not happy with the size on my front teeth. i would like to smile with confidence. is there any fink you can recommend? thank you so much
A. Hi, thanks for your question. Now that your teeth have been straightened, you may wish to consider having the front teeth veneered. When having veneers, the dentist would prepare the teeth (allowing them to make the veneers shorter than your natural teeth were) before fitting the thin layers of porcelain over the front surfaces of your teeth. Dental veneers can be used to improve the shape, colour, size and general appearance of teeth. I hope that this helps.

A. hi many thanks, the only thing that would help with the staining which is conservative at the age she is, would be direct composite veneers. i dont think this would completely mask the staining but would help massively. hope this is helpful,

Q. Hi, I had veneers fitted to my 4 front upper teeth about 3 years ago, two are now looking black & one of my front teeth are loose, why would they go black looking? & can I have them replaced even though one tooth feels loose? Thank you Jacqueline
A. Hi Jacqueline
Thanks for your questions, firstly I would recommend that you visit your dentist in order to discuss the reasons for your lose tooth. In respect of the change in the colour of your, this could be due to the nerve dying. If this is the case, it can sometimes lead to pain and discomfort, so again I would encourage you to return to your dentist to have this assessed. If the nerve is dying in your tooth, the dentist may recommend that you have root canal therapy. This would involve removing all the infection from the root canal and then cleaning and filling it. The tooth may then need to be crowned in order to protect it. I hope this helps, but would urge you to contact me again should you need any further assistance.

Q. My two front teeth are capped as is a back one which keeps coming lose. I would like veneers and when I smile have ten teeth top and bottom showing I can’t have whitening done as my teeth are very sensative what procedure would be necessary for me I also have a number of silver fillings
A. Thanks for your questions, firstly I should tell you that as your teeth have already been crowned, it will not be possible to veneer them. However it is possible to acheive a new smile by a mix of crowns and veneers. If you are considering a full mouth makeover, then you would be able to choose the shade that your teeth will be made in at the start of the treatment, avoiding the need for whitening. If you are just having uppers or lowers done, then the restorations would usually be made to match the natural teeth shades. If you decide to give the whitening a try, this would usually be done prior to the preperation of your restorations, as you can then choose the shade to match your whitened teeth. Q. i would like to get some details on which treatments would suit for me. my front teeth in the upper row are are little up and the teeth as a whole are not straight. can you suggest an efficient method to cure this? also i would like to know how long will it take for the entire treatment and its fee structure.
A. hi many thanks for your email, the first thing would be to assess your teeth, there are usually two ways to straighten teeth, the first using braces which can range from £2000 – £4000. the second is veneers which are a much quicker solution to crooked teeth but the draw back is the teeth do need to be prepared. the braces treatment can take upto 2 years in some cases but there are treatments such as six month smiles which move the teeth at a much quicker rate.
the veneers option would take a maximum of 12 weeks and costs can vary from £2000 – £10000

Q. Hi. I went to the dentist a few weeks ago, I had a tooth that was lose. She told me it was a baby canine. After doing an x-ray, she said the tooth on the other side was also a baby, and that both adult tooth, were still up in the gums. She talked about braces and having the adult teeth exposed. I really do not want to have braces. I’m 26. Is it possible to just have the baby teeth removed and have veneers put in instead???
A. hi many thanks for your email, if you have the baby teeth extracted, your fixed options are:
1: braces, expose the adult teeth and try to bring them down.
2: bridges on both sides to replace the missing teeth. so no need for braces.

Q. Hello Dr., My upper front 2 teeth are little outwards. All others are in good place. These front teeth are more expanded on sides towards the ends than the hold between gums. Now I want to get them adjusted. What are the possibilities? Do I have to wear braces or there is something like grinding the sides to get them adjusted? Thanks for your answers
A. It sounds like braces might be your best optin unless you consider veneers, however veneers entail some trimming of the teeth.

Q. sir,i am having porcelain cap on one of my fronth tooth. it looks a bit bulged than other tooth, and slight mismatching of colour of the cap is present.doctot had done enamel cutting prior to it, much more than what is required for veneering,,,, can i replace this cap with a more effective procedure..plz suggest sir,can i now do veneering to it..also dont teeth grow after enamel cutting
A. Teeth do not grow after the enamel has been cut. Once a tooth has been preared for a crown the only option in replasing the crown is with another crown. However the new crown can be made out of different materials to improve the look

Q. I have been successfully treated for gum disease & am now following a good oral hygiene routine of brushing at least twice daily, using interdental brushes,flossing & using mouth wash. However my gums have receeded to some extent. Is there any cosmetic dentistry available replace the gaps where the gums have receeded?
A. You have 2 options. Either have a periodontist(gum specialist ) graft gum or have veneers to reshape your teeth or a combination of both
