Q. Dear Dr Moore I am Writing concerning a special case of cosmetic dentistry i am interested in. I am looking for a way of reshaping 8 of my teeth (the top and bottom canines and top and bottom lateral incisors). I wanted to consult you as to the feasibility of this, and secondly if it is a service you can provide as it is reshaping the teeth rather than trying to return them to a normal shape. The effect i am after is for the canines themselves to be slightly expended (approximately 1 or 2mm) and both them and the lateral incisors to be more pointed. The intent is to be a subtle effect and must be acceptable for still eating/chewing etc. I realize in itself this request is rather unusual, but i was hoping even if you yourself cannot provide this service you might be able to point me in the direction of those who could. On that note, if you can provide this service, how much would it cost? for all 8 teeth and which would be the best way of approaching this? I would greatly appreciate any help your expertise could lend to this matter.
A. The reshaping of teeth can be carried out in a number of ways including simple bonding of white filling to the teeth (cost £50) or veneers/crowns (starting from £450). The choice depends on the durability of the material needed, the extent of the correction required and the position of the opposing teeth.

Q. Hey Andrew, I was just wanting a little bit of advice please. I have a Cap on one of my front teeth, and a crown on the other. The Crown is now a different shade to my other teeth. They are all a little bit uneven. Would Veneers be the best opition? If so, how much could i expect to pay? Thanks in advance,
A. You could replace the crown and match it to the other teeth or change the other teeth with either tooth whitening or veneers to create a more even colur/shape to your smile. Veneers at my clinic start from £450, let me know if you’d like me to take a look

Q. would you be able to mend my teeth idf I am a grinder, I grind my teeth across my dentist told me. would it be possible to do my 2 front teeth with Cerec, I need a good smile this is ageing me terribly

It should be possible to have your front teeth veneered or crowned to improve their appearance. However I would recommend that once you have had this procedure, you should wear a nightguard. This will help to protect the restorations, and prevent you from grinding them down.

Q. Hi, I have a quick question I hope you might be able to answer. One of my front teeth is slightly twisted and is particularly noticeable when you look at it from the side. It makes me self-conscious when I smile, although my other teeth are still in place and I would be happy to leave them where and how they are. I wore a fixed brace and then a removeable brace as a teenager and have recently had my top 2 wisdom teeth removed due to overcrowding (perhaps this may have caused the front tooth to twist?). I asked my dentist about possible treatments but he seemed reluctant to suggest anything as the tooth is healthy. I wouldn’t want to wear another fixed brace and ideally would want a quick, long term solution, preferably not too expensive. I was wondering what might be the best option? Thanks.

Thanks for your question, probably the quickest method to improve the appearnace and position of a tooth would be to place a veneer on the tooth. The dentist may be able to prepare the tooth, so that a veneer would sit in line with your other teeth, however depending on how much preperation is involved, it may require root treatment of the tooth as well. The other alternative would be a straightening system. I know that you are reluctant to wear fixed braces again, but you may be interested in the Inman aligner, which can acheive results in as little as six weeks, and is also one of the most cost effective straightening systems. Q. I had root canal on my bottom front tooth which was a grey colour, i since had my teeth bleached and was told to inject the tooth after the bleaching procedure using the trays and bleach provided. This didnt work and the tooth looks terrible compared to my other teeth which are white. What do you suggest? I just want a nice smile.
A. Thanks for your question, you may wish to consider having the tooth veneered. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain which is made to fit over the front surface of the tooth, and can be used to improve the colour, shape, size and overall aesthetic appearance of a tooth or teeth. The veneer would be made to match the whitened shade of your other teeth, to give a uniform look to your smile. I hope this helps.

Q. Good day Dr. Solanki. I had dental braces for 2 years and 6 months and I am quite satisfied with the result except for one thing. One of my front top tooth is kinda “pear shape”. That tooth was protruding in before the braces and when it was aligned after the appliance, there was a wee gap at the top part of that tooth near my gum that can be seen everytime I would widely smile or grin which looks so unappealing. My orthodontist said it was because of the shape of my teeth. Is there a remedy for this? I hope there is, after all the costs and pains of wearing the braces. I hope its all worth it.
A. Thanks for your questions, you may wish to consider having the tooth veneered. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain which is made to fit over the front surface of the tooth and can be used to alter the shape. However an alternative, less expensive, and more conservative option may be to consider using a composite material to desguise the shape. I hope this helps.

Q. Hi,I’m a very unhappy lady when it comes to my teeth , it sometimes brings me to tears i have never been able to smile for a photo and would love to. Q. I was wondering i would be able to get vaneers or implants done on the nhs as my two front teeth at the bottom have formed a gap as all my bottom teeth used to be perfectly straight and no gaps until i became addicted to coca cola and i would like the replacements to look like my own instead of having dentures like old people have as i am only 30 years of age and as an adult would i be able to have a brace fitted to my top teeth on the nhs as i have got gaps between my teeth that i would like closed up.
A. Thanks for your questions, it may be possible to have veneers on the NHS if they are clinically necessary. However, if there is no clinical need for them, then it would be deemed as cosmetic, and therefore would not be available on the NHS. If this is the case, your dentist may be able to offer a bridge as an alternative to a denture. This would depend on the stability and health of the teeth on either side of the gap. In order to fit a bridge, you would have the teeth on either side of the gap prepared for crowns, and the laboratory would attach a false tooth to the two crowns. This three unit bridge would then be fitted. I hope this helps.

Q. I have had braces and yet i have a small gap between my two front teeth, my orthadontist said i should go and see my dentist for bonding or venners as there is nothing else she can do. i was just wondering which technique is better and longer lasting and if they are stain resistant. Also i may consider home teeth whitening kits, and was wondering if they the veneers or the bonding will whiten also. morevover can you please tell me the NHS prices fro these and if there is a significant reduction in prices if you are a university student.
A. Thanks for your enquiry, firstly these procedures would be classed as cosmetic, and so would probably not be available on the NHS. If you are considering having your teeth whitened, then I would encourage you to do this before you have any restorations placed on your teeth, as whitening only works on your natural tooth. The material which is then used would be matched to the whitened shade of your teeth. There are benefits to both tooth bonding and to veneers, as tooth bonding is a less invasive treatment however veneers would lead to a more aesthetically pleasing result in my opinion. Q. Hi, Just looking for some advice.. as my dentist id not available for 2 weeks and im very worried.. I have veneers on my teeth (put on 6 months ago) and I have had a bad fall at work and chipped one of the very front ones. I cant believe ive been so unlucky as they looked really good before this. Im worried that if the chipped veneer is replaced it wont match the others as it will be made at a different time. It would look awful if one tooth was a different colour to the rest. The lab that did the veneers is in New York so visiting the lab is not an option. Is there any way to make a precise match? Your advice any any reassurance would be great, thanks
A. Thanks for your questions, your dentist and the laboratory he used will have a record of the shade and materials that were used for your veneers, and so should be able to get a very good match when they replace it. I hope this puts your mind at rest a little.

Q. I damaged my front tooth when i was younger this made it slack I was then given root treatment and in time my tooth started to discolour, it was then suggested i get an veneer, this venner looked good but after 3 yrs it chipped and I needed to get it replaced,my second veneer was only in for 2 weeks when it cracked from the inside.I was then given my third within 6 months this one became noticeably darker, my dentist advised me to get yet another, I am just home from appt and this veneer is slightly better but at my gum area all you can see is blackness. I did say that I was’nt happy with it but he expressed that is the best he can do with what he has to work with, my own tooth is black and yellow as he showed me. i am wondering if you could advise on any other options. thanks
A. Thanks for your questions, you may wish to consider having a crown on the tooth instead of a veneer. Although it would involve more preperation of the tooth, a crown would be much less transparent hence consealing the discolouration. I would recommend that you speak to your dentist to gain his professional opinion on the merit of this in your case. I hope that his helps.

Q. Dear Mr. Patel Let me allow that I introduce my problem.I am 21 and my cief complaint is my upper and lower crowding. Info – Relationship of frontal teeth: Overjet: 2-3mm Overbite 2mm, Midlines upper is OK lower 1,5mm to the left, Dental crowding severe, Crossbite UR2-LR3. Next year year I’ll study at London Business School and I think that this is good opportunity to correct my teeths aswell. I want to ask you is in this case possible to correct teeths with Veneers, removable braces or Invisaglin braces? Because I realy want fast solution and I think that veneers are the best but on the other hand I am also prepared for longer treatment and wear braces but only which I mention in upper text. I just want to hear your advice because everywhere offer me just Damonbraces and similar braces which I realy do not want to wear because they do not fit my lifestyle. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. I am also prepared to send you photos of my teeths,smile,x-ray scans if this help you to give me advice.
A. Veneers can create a lovely smile but the downside is your teeth have to cut down, this means they will need a lifetime of treatment. As your teeth are already crooked it would be very difficult to create a nice smile with veneers without removing a lot of natural tooth. My preferred treatment would be orthodontics, invisalign is the most discreet, 6 month smiles is the quickest and damon braces are very good for very crowed mouths.

Q. Hi im 30 years old and my upper and lower eye teeth on the left side sort of stick out, i assume there wasnt room for them when they came through so my top one is higher up then the rest of my teeth. Im not worried about the bottom as no one sees those teeth but it is getting me don when ever i look at pictures and see a horrid smile. What is the best option for me? Im not to keen on the idea of braces as im self conscious enough but maybe there is a better type of brace you could suggest than the traditional metal train tracks or would veneers be any good?
A. Invisalign may work well for you possibly in combination with veneers
