Can I have implants done on payment plan?

Q. hi my name is michelle and im 26 years old i have had problems with my teeth sice i was a baby they just kept rotting and the dentist didnt no why or how to control it after years of pain i had to have most of them removed and i now only have 7 teeth left and none at the top this is very upsettin for me i have trieda denture but ust can not have it in my mouth do basicly the dentist said there is nothing more they can do im at a loss and have lost all my confidence and can not smile can you help me plase is there sanywhere i can get implaints done on payment plan and how much would it all cost ? im aware i can not have it done on the nhs?

A. hi michelle, there are many practices including mine which offer payment plans interest free and low interest. the cost for fixed teeth per arch to replace a denture ranges from about £10000, to £15000. the best thing would be to book a free consultation think about how much you could afford monthly and we will discuss the right plan of action for your budget. hope this is helpful.

Is its important to know about herpes as a dentist?

Q. Why is it so important if you have herpes 1 and 2 to know as a dentist. The reason why i ask because i am becoming a dentist ass. and i need to know why is it so important to know if a someone had herpes.

A. herpes virus can be spread in the aerosol spray that dentistry creates. it can be a serious infection in some patients and can cause permanent damage if it is spread to the eyes

My girlfriend has severe ulcers, painful throat plz help

Q. my girlfriend has severe ulcers, pain , painful throat, gumboils( i think they are) tiredness,weak and unwellness, the dentist told her , she needed the hygenist to scrape away the tartar.and that was it. is this normall?

A. hi many thanks for your email, i think your girlfriend sounds like she is run down, and suffering from some form of virus. my advice would be to seek the a second opinion from your GP.

Is there any way I could save the tooth which is causing pain?

Q. Hello i had root canal treatment not long back – i ate something hard and chewy and part of my tooth has come off – its very painful , there is still some tooth there will the pain go away ? and is there any way i could save the tooth

A. Back teeth following root treatment are usually crowned to prevent splitting of the tooth. It is likely that the piece of tooth you have broken is still attached at the gum level and this is what is causing you pain. If this is so the dentist should be able to remove the broken part of the tooth and to crown what is remaining

All my upper teeth ache plz advice

Q. hello, i had a upper root canal done then a perm crown. this tooth still hurts (pain in root) dispite nothing wrong showing on xray, plus 2 lots of anti biotics later. now all my upper teeth ache especially my front ones? what could this be i am really fed up. i would value you opinion thanks so much

A. hi many thanks for your email, i think the pain is radiating from the tooth which has been root canaled. if the tooth is not settling my advice would be to asked to be referred to a specialist endodontist who is more likely to get to the bottom of the problem and resolve the pain.

My front teeth hv started to ache Could this be Sinus?

Q. HELLO DR PATEL. I HAD A ROOT CANAL ON A LARGE UPPER MOLAR. IT HAS NOW STOPED HURTING. I CAN EAT PAIN FREE ON IT, TOUCH IT PAIN FREE, TAP IT PAIN FREE. HOWEVER IT FEEL WEIRD LIKE THERE A SMALL AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IN IT . MY FRONT TEETH HAVE STARTED TO ACHE SINCE THE ROOT CANAL. MY JAW ALSO ACHES NEAR MY EARS. I HAVE HAD THE BITE ADJUSTED AND ITS PERFECT. COULD THIS BE SINUS? KIND REGDS.

A. If there was infection it could take a while to settle it sounds like the symptoms are reducing so I would wait until everything is pain free. It could be a sinus infection or the fact that the bite was too proud. Leave everything for at least 10 days unless symptoms get worse.

I hv fixed braces and its causing pain Plz advice

Q. hi. im 26 and at the moment im having some real problems, that is really making me very depressed. last year i was asked to be referred so i could have fixed braces as i was having alot of pressure in my mouth which i was told was due to a over crowd. i was fitted up braces but im a full time student at university and have two young children, i cant afford to have these braces as much as i want to. i have noti

ced these past few month that my teeth are pushing forward which is causing me a lot of pain, my bite has changed and im now having to hold my jaw at an angle due to this. is there any way i could get any help with having these braces fitted? or would i be able to have them on the nhs? it is really ruining my life at the moment and affecting everything that i do. i have constantly got aches and pains in my mouth, my teeth feel so tight has they are pushing with no where to go, and it also causes headaches and pain at the top of my neck. im at my wits end with it. if u could help me it would be great.

A. I doubt you will get braces as an adult, on the NHS. I also doubt whther they will help your symptoms. i would consider a bite guard worn at night to try to stop you clenching or grinding your teeth and to realign your bite as this is probably the cause of your facial pain. If money is a problem you might try a referral to a local dental teaching hospital?

A. It can be sore for the first 3 ro 4 days but normal pain killers for headaches will take the discomfort away

A. Thanks for your enquiry, at a lot of practices, it is possible to apply for finance to spread the cost of your treatment. At many practices this can even be interest free, as you have been resident in the United Kingdom for more than three years, you should be able to make an application. I would expect you to have to provide both a proof of address and a proof of signtaure but I foresee no problems in qualifying to make an application. I hope this helps. Many Thanks.

What would be the cost for repair of chipped teeth?

Q. my two top front teeth are chipped and i am concerned they will chip even more is it possible to repair them, will i have to go private and hoe much roughly will it cost, as i am having trouble finding an nhs dentist.

A. I recommend you call around to find an NHS dentist in your area taking on new patients or visit www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/
If you decided to go down the private route then after your examination your dentist can inform you on the costs involved in repairing this.
