Exactly how much tooth is actually needed to do a filling? I don’t think it’s much as one of my teeth is mostly filling. The dentist said to her she would need a to perform extraction of the tooth and fit a bridge which NHS doesn’t cover so would cost around 800 pounds or an implant which would be 1000. I have also had an implant fitted on the NHS so is the dentist lying? Sorry, I realise that’s actually two questions…

Hi there, Im 27 and having a nightmare with my teeth, I havnt been to the dentist in over 3 years because my husbands salary went up and we are no longer entitled to it free. Anyway, my top middle tooth had previously had a black filling in, and the other day while I was eating a crunchy pizza, I heard a crack and half the filling fell out, the tooth is wobbly at the back half and Im really sore. Every time I swallow, I taste a chemical taste and worried about mercury poisoning (if not, what is the taste?) I have to find a dentist on Monday, and wont even have the time off to get it fixed until next Friday, whats the best thing to do until then, is the chemical taste harmless? half the filling is still there. Thank you This is horrible

Hi, I had been given a temporary filling about 6 months ago and I am due to have the permanent filling done in a couple of weeks. However, the other night the same tooth (near back of mouth) partially chipped/cracked on the inside edge of the tooth, exposing some of the temporary filling. There is no pain but my question is, should this be of some concern to me given I am about to have a filling, and is the enamel able to be bonded back to the tooth or if not, what procedure, if any, is likely to take place? Many Thanks

I have had many fillings in my front teeth (6-11). Some of them came loose after a couple months. My dentist said that he would like to cap these teeth. He said that my fillings will just keep falling out. Is this true? I have become very depressed about my teeth. I want to keep my teeth for as long as possible. I am only 30. What are my options?
