Immediate implant placement post extraction advice

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008
Q.
My question is about immediate post-extraction implant placement. I have had a crown on 1 upper front tooth for 18yrs recently the post broke and according to my dentist the post is too short for another crown. I am contemplating various options to replace the crown, one of them being a titanium implant.I have already had X rays, blood tests etc…to assess suitability to implant. I am in favour of an immediate post extraction implant placement which i mentioned to my dentist,he stated it was a “possibility” but would not elaborate. I am aware you cannot answer what would be best in MY case but i would be grateful for some general info on potential dangers/difficulties of immediate post extraction implant. I am 65 yrs old with no major health problems. I have had a successful hip replacement (titanium) a few years back. Many thanks for your advice. Regards. F
