Why Have My Teeth Turned Yellow During Brace Treatment?

Tuesday, June 16th, 2015
Q.

Hi. I had Six Month Smile braces fitted a month ago and my teeth have turned a yellow colour. I’m very cautious of the colour of the food I eat. I drink coffee through a straw and clean my teeth regularly. I have spent money on different types of cleaning brushes but to no avail. I use Sensodyne toothpaste and Oral B mouthwash. Friends have commented on them therefore I am very conscious of them. Is there anything I can do?

Should I Seek a Second Opinion About My Brace Treatment?

Thursday, March 5th, 2015
Q.

Hello,

I am currently on the Six Month Smiles treatment. It’s been 8 months and my dentist claims it’s only my bottom jaw that needs more time. I feel my top jaw isn’t straightened to my satisfaction with one of the incisors still a bit wonky and one canine still sticking out a bit. My dentist insists the wonky incisor is due to the shape of the tooth and the canine is if anything over-corrected, but I’m just not satisfied when I look in the mirror. Is it worth seeking a second opinion?

Will Six Month Braces Treat My Overbite?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I have an overbite. It is rather bad on my top teeth and my bottom teeth are crowed and not straight at all – one tooth overlaps another slightly. Will this six month brace thing work for me? My gums on my bottom teeth, mainly on the one that overlaps slightly, are moving down a lot so my tooth looks longer. It’s starting to be painful sometimes, I really need this sorted. I herd that this six month brace helps a lot and doesn’t show that much, which will be a big help with my work and social life, but if this will not be helpful for me I don’t want to waste my time looking into it. Does this help everyone or people with my problems, and will it help me? What’s the likely costs and how long do you think it will take to make my teeth normal? Thank you.

Can I Get Six Month Smiles Even Though I Have a Bridge?

Friday, September 5th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes, I hope this question finds you well. I got a bridge placed on the upper part of my teeth on the left hand side. But I would really like to straighten the teeth on the right hand side now so that my smile is symmetrical. Would Six Month Smiles be a good treatment for me even though I have a bridge on my upper teeth? I just really want to make my teeth straight so that I can smile in my pictures without hesitation, and Six Month Smiles looks like the perfect brace. I’ve looked at other options but it is by far my favourite. Thank you, I look forward to your response and hope you can give me some good advice.

I Would Like To Have My Veneers Removed Before I Have The Six Month Smiles Treatment. Will This Be Possible?

Thursday, January 30th, 2014
Q.

Hi there Mark,
I have had two veneers (on the teeth either side of my front teeth) for almost 15 years. They are not porcelain but are very old, stained and I have not been happy with them for a very long time. I am seriously thinking of the six month smile programme. I have my first consultation with my dentist next week. I am suddenly concerned though, would the dentist be happy to take these veneers off? My teeth were not changed in any way underneath to fit the veneers. I would just love to have them removed so that my own teeth could fitted with the brace. Is this possible?

I Am Confused Whether To Have Invisalign Or Six Month Smiles Treatment To Sort Out My Overcrowded Teeth?

Monday, January 6th, 2014
Q.

I would like to push back my upper front teeth and to straighten them too so there’s no overcrowding. I would also like to straighten my lower teeth which are crowded and one tooth protrudes outwards significantly. I have seen an orthodontist and cosmetic dentist but I’m totally confused whether to go with an orthodontist or a cosmetic dentist. One recommended Invisalign the other Six month smiles. One also said they couldn’t push my lower tooth back in line totally due to lack of space. Is there anything that can be done to create more space for a perfect outcome? Thank you.

I’d Like To Perfect My Smile Before I Go To University But I Don’t Want Metal Braces. What Are My Orthodontic Options?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi, my two front teeth have a tiny gap in between them and my two canines are also slightly higher than I would like (this is due to the fact that when I was younger my canines came in while I still had my baby teeth, I had two white lumps above my teeth when they started growing and although my teeth were a bit wobbly I basically had to pull them out). Is there any way I could fix my teeth without the full metal braces? I wondered about getting an Inman aligner, however I was not sure whether it would help pull down my canines. The problems I mentioned are not severe and my teeth are not terribly high however I would like to perfect my smile. I really do not want metal braces as I am going to university soon and do not want to start off with braces. I was wondering if that doesn’t work if there is anyway to just pull my teeth down? Please help 🙂

People Have Often Commented On The Placement Of My Teeth. What Can Be Done To Straighten Them?

Friday, November 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have a crooked a single crooked tooth on the top row of teeth right at the front. I want to know what can be done to fix the problem, it isn’t a major issue but really knocks my confidence when smiling or talking to individuals face to face? I have mulled over the thought of what kind of straightening needs to be done but do not know what to do about it. It has been this way for a few years and my peers and acquaintances have told me that over time the tooth will straighten itself, it has not done so. It has been reoccurring as a question I have been asking myself. People have often noticed and commented on the placement and it has really knocked my confidence. I have been to the dentist a lot for check ups every 6 months as standard, they have said that I do not need a brace so there is nothing I can think of doing but to seek cosmetic advice/help.

My Retainer Cracked And I Want To Know If The Advice I Was Given Is Correct, Can You Help?

Tuesday, August 13th, 2013
Q.

Hello.
I had a 6 month Smile brace, after 4 months, they were removed and i was given a clear retainer.

After 3 months, this retainer cracked. This concerned me quite a bit. After waiting a few days for an appointment, my orthodontist made me a new retainer. However this did not fit and I experienced some movement.

She then made me a new retainer, again, movement occurred. My orthodontist has now taken to adding “clear bonding” to my tooth, to fill the space in my retainer to move my tooth back.

Even now, they are still not as straight as they were when treatment finished. I only have 6 months aftercare and that runs out this month. She is saying i will only qualify to have my braces back on if my teeth have moved more than 2mm. She also stated if my smile is considered to be straight, then they wont consider further treatment.

She told me that movement during retention can happen. My teeth move if i take my retainer out for an hour whilst eating. Apparently this is normal.

Can you offer your insight into this? It would be greatly appreciated
