Is My Dentist Giving Me the Right Advice?

Friday, April 24th, 2015
Q.

I am 48 years old and have been told by my dentist today that my front teeth have short roots and I would be in danger in maybe 5 years time of loosing my teeth. He is referring me to a specialist to see about augmenting the front teeth by adding bone cartilage. Can you clarify what he means? I really do not want to have implants as my front teeth are a lovely shape and I want to hold on to them for as long as I can. Also, I had a very deep filling today in my back wisdom tooth. The same dentist told me that it might not take and that I would have to have root canal treatment done if it continues to give me trouble. He also suggested that I have it removed if it does cause continual trouble, as it is an ‘8’ and wouldn’t be seen and its absence wouldn’t effect my jawline. What is your advice on this? Should I bother with root canal to ensure a strong jawline for future years, or just have it removed? It is very far back. Thanks a million.

My front teeth are crowded and protrude but due to short roots i have been advised against braces, any advice?

Q.

Hello sir, i have very short roots on my front two teeth and have accordingly been advised against getting braces. My front teeth are slightly crowded, protruding by about 3.5mm. I am wondering about getting veneers to slightly reduce this, as i am an actor and aesthetics are very important to me. I have read of new dentin bonding technologies that allow veneers to correct such a problem, and was just wondering if you thought this was a wise idea. Any advise would be greatly appreciated- thanks alot

I have short roots but i want orthodontic treatment, what can I do?

Dear Dr Verma

I had braces when I was younger and the top retainer was removed soon after my braces were removed. Both my upper lateral incisors point inwards and this looks rather unsightly and I have been told that my roots are short and that further orthodontic treatment would not be adviseable.

Is there anything I can do to improve this?

Hello Dr , I am an 18 year old male with teeth that protrude by 4mm. I have very short roots so have been advised against braces, but I am very concerned about the appearance of my teeth because I am going to be studying drama at university in two years time. Can veneers, crowns, or anything else be used to improve the appearance of these teeth? any help would be appreciated- thanks alot

Hello,
I am 20 years old and my two front teeth have short roots and have a large bite gap. Is there a way I can get braces or surgery to get them fixed?

I have short roots on my front teeth and they’re also crowded, can I have orthodontic treatment to fix them?

Hello, i am a 19 year old and have very short roots on my two front teeth, which are slightly crowded, protruding by just under 4mm. I am a serious actor and am going on to acting school in a couple of years, and am aware of all the risks involved and am ok with getting implants if it comes to that. My teeth are very healthy except for the short roots. Would it still probably be possible to get orthodontics of some kind? I am happy to sign anything saying i accept the risks.,
