I Was Wondering If Payment Plans Require Taking Out Credit Or Whether You Can Just Pay A Certain Amount Each Month?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I had a root canal done a couple of years ago that failed and the tooth came away (molar), a pre-molar in front of it also had to be removed after my first pregnancy. I have seen someone who advised me that I could have a dental implant and the cost of this however they didn’t offer a payment plan. I was just wondering whether your payment plans require taking out credit or whether you can just pay a certain amount each month? I live in the North West area and I am really looking to get this done as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

My Root Cracked After Root Canal Treatment. Would A Cantilever Bridge Be A Suitable Option For Me?

Monday, March 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I am 80 years old. My dentist tried to do a root canal on one side of a bridge that holds a false tooth between two crowns. He had a problem that resulted with the root being cracked. This is on the lower left side. I have all four wisdom teeth but when the cracked root tooth is pulled that will leave two teeth missing with only a wisdom tooth and the original crown on the other side.

Will a cantilever bridge work for me? I do not want an implant and would like further treatment options suitable to me? Thank you.

I Had A Root Canal On My Front Tooth Last Week And Half Of It Has Slid Out. Will I Be Left With A Gap While The Gum Heals?

Friday, March 21st, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I had my first appointment for root canal treatment last week on one of my front teeth. The dentist was away the coming weeks so booked me in for 3 weeks time to finish off. Recently half the tooth slid out!
I have an appointment with someone else for tomorrow and it’s more than obvious they are going to pull it. My question is once pulled – will I just be left for weeks/months while the gum heals with nothing in its place? I’m so concerned as it’s my front tooth and I’m a 29 year old girl. I’d really like to know what will happen to my tooth.

How Long After A Tooth Extraction Do I Have To Wait Before I Can Have An Implant?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I have just had a tooth extraction because of a failed root canal where the tooth actually fractured causing discomfort and my only option was an extraction as I was informed. I was wondering how long it would be before I would be able to have an implant? It is one of my upper molars. The thing is you can see the crater when I smile, and I usually smile a lot because visually I have lovely straight teeth and white too, so could you advise me on the best course of action regarding this. Are there any treatment types that could work? Thank you.

I’ve Had A Crown Fitted Which Seems To Be Affected By My Bite. I’m Concerned I’ll Do Further Damage. Is This Likely?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I hope you can help as I have an issue that has me a bit worried. I have just had a crown fitted on my side tooth (After a root canal) but it seems a bit “long” and it’s always the first thing I “hit” whenever I bite down on anything. I am concerned that I will do further damage to it and that it won’t last as long as it should do with my bite affecting it’s function. Is this normal in your experience? What would you advise me to do about this? Could you tell me if it is likely to be under guarantee? Any information you can provide would be of great help to me. Thank you for your time.

Can You Tell Me If Polycarbonate Braces Are Better Than Damon Braces?

Monday, March 10th, 2014
Q.

I visited a dentist recently for RCT and cap, I have been toying with the idea of getting braces and so I started some research and came across damon/damon clear, etc.  So when I asked him about it he said that he uses polycarbonate braces which are advanced and a bit cheaper. I came back and when I searched I couldn’t find anything about polycarbonate being better than Damon, I have another visit scheduled tomorrow, what are the questions I need to ask him before I go through with it? I also read that plastic braces contain BPA and it increases over time. I am confused, any help is appreciated.

Why Am I Getting Pain When I Chew Directly After Root Canal Treatment?

Friday, February 28th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I had my first sitting for a root canal where the dentist cleaned the tooth and canals and he used local anaesthesia. It’s been two days and I am taking antibiotics and pain killers. But the my teeth hurt whenever I chew and the pain comes from temporary filled teeth. Please let me know if this is normal? How do I know whether the root canal done by this dentist is correct? Please help me or advise me on what to do?
Also what can I do to prevent this from happening when I get my crown fitted. Thank you for your help in advance.

How Easy Is It For A Dentist To Spot An Abscess?

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I hope you can help me. I underwent an initial root canal treatment for a lower molar, the dentist also discovered an abscess which he removed.

Two weeks prior to the root canal treatment he X-rayed my tooth and proceeded to fill it, he hadn’t noticed the abscess or the dead root. How easy are these to spot? He then had to remove the new filling and start the initial root canal procedure.

However two days later my jaw and glands are still extremely swollen and sore, is this normal, or at least is it to be expected?

I look forward to receiving your response.

Regards.

I’m Worried I Might Have Pulpitis As I’ve Tried Different Treatments And Gum Is Still Swollen. What Do You Think?

Monday, February 17th, 2014
Q.

I have had problems with the one front incisor tooth since October. I flossed one time at night and I pulled the floss too hard and my gum started to bleed. I didn’t think anything of it but then after that the tooth has been hurting. I’m not sure how long the gum has been swollen but it has slight swelling near that tooth, nowhere else and the swelling has been the same. It also has a lot of pressure there, is sensitive to hot and cold and the gum used to be very irritated, which has only just calmed down now after trying different mouthwashes. I have been to the dentist a number of times and she did an X-ray but couldn’t find anything. I first thought that it was just a swollen gum due to a cut I had on the gum but the cut healed. I have also taken antibiotics twice from the doctor because I was getting constant flu like symptoms since October. I recently went to the dentist again and explained that the problem could be due to a cracked tooth, as food was getting in there causing my gum to swell, which she just put some filling on. She said she didn’t understand why I was getting all these symptoms and she didn’t think the gum was swollen due to the fact that it looked pink and it looked normal but when I feel the other parts of my gums, they feel normal except for this one. She didn’t even do another X-ray just to see if anything had changed since I last had the X-ray. I am worried that it may be pulpitis, as I have read that the symptoms are the same as I’ve been getting. Do you think it could be pulpitis especially since the problem has been there since October?

Tuesday, January 7th, 2014
Q.

Dr. Bohara, I have seen several dentists with no help. I have lost teeth in the front due to root resorption, and I now need a root canal on another front tooth. I suffer with dry mouth and halitosis and when ask about dentures I am laughed at and told they won’t pull my teeth. This has affecting my life terribly and I don’t have the money to continually put in my teeth and it isn’t helping. Can you please advise me what needs to be done?
