My Front Tooth Cracked After Root Canal Treatment. I’m Always Scared Of Going To The Dentist. What Do You Think I Should Do?

Friday, June 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. My front tooth has cracked and a piece has fallen out, but this tooth has also had root treatment done to it and since then has started to rot at the back and two bits of tooth have fell off. What would be best for me to do? I always have to get sedation when I go to the dentist and I’m very scared of going. I don’t know what would be best or what I can get as the tooth is rotten. What do you think I should get done and when should I get it done? Due to work I can’t get time off for about 2 weeks.

I Am Self Conscious About My Gold Tooth. Is There A More Natural Looking Alternative I can Replace It With?

Monday, June 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew, I need your advice. I had a gold tooth put in one of my top back teeth when I was younger. I think this was because it was a chipped tooth or it could have been a cavity as I also had root canal treatment. I was told the gold tooth would be best as I didn’t have wisdom teeth which I do now. I am self conscious when I smile because you can still see it, is there a more natural looking alternative I can replace it with?

Thanks, it would be great to hear from you.

I Have Been Told That I Need A Specialist For My Curved Roots. Could My Regular Dentist Do This Instead?

Thursday, June 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’ve been told that I need nerve root canal treatment as my roots are curved. I would need to see a specialist to correct this. Do you know if this is the correct way of going about something like this? I have no problems with my current dentist, he is very good and I wondered if he could do it instead. Do you know if this is possible? I hope you can help me with this, I’m extremely nervous. Thank you for your reply in advance.

I Feel A Throbbing Pain Ever Since My Crown Was Put Back In. Do You Have Any Idea Of What The Problem Might Be?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I’d like your help and advice if it’s not too much bother. My front crown, which is about 8 years old, it fell out and my dentist stuck it back in. From then it hasn’t felt quite right. I am having a throbbing pain in it. Is the nerve still alive when you have a crown put? I am also getting root canal treatment on three molars not had them crowned yet but this hasn’t given me a lot of pain just the normal, after this type of treatment. All the pain is in my front crown. Do you have any idea of what the problem might be? Thank you for your time.

I’ve Had Two Root Canals And I Still Have And Infection. What Would Be Your Opinion On This?

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’ve been back for my 2nd root canal treatment as my dentist did not remove all of the abscess the 1st time. My problem is that I have a very large soft lump on the roof of my mouth that my dentist said I should keep poking just in case any infection is left but I’m finding that is is very sensitive. When I do this I cannot see it going down so I am now at my wits end as a 3rd course of treatment fills me with dread. I’m due do go back in 10 days for my dentist for a check over. I would just like your opinion on this? Thank you for your time.

Dear Dr Moore, After Visiting My Dentist For A Filling, I’ve Experienced Sensitivity. What Should I Do?

Friday, April 25th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr. Moore,

After visiting the dentist for re-filling of one of my molars which contains a rather big hole, I have been experiencing very sensitive dentine for more than 3 months. Whenever I eat hot and cold stuff, it hurts badly. I phone the dentist, he suggested me to buy a toothpaste with the brand called Sensodyne to take care of it. I did as he told me. But so far after 3 months, it improves only a little bit. I don’t want to go back to the previous dentist, because he may charge me a lot of money. What should I do? I hope you can help me. Thank you.

I’m Concerned That My Root Treatment Will Expose My Crowns. What Happens If I Don’t Have The Treatment?

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I’d like your advice. I have always visited my NHS dentist regularly. Yet, after seeing a specialist, I have been told that I need root service debridement. I am very concerned about this. Will the treatment damage/expose my crowns and if I don’t have it, what other options do I have? And what will result be without the treatment? Also can I be sure that this will extend my teeth? I have 4 crowns at the top in the front and also at the bottom. Apparently the ones at the bottom are not so bad. I am concerned that the crowns at the top will look too much like crowns. I hope to hear from you. Thank you.

I Am Really Upset As I Paid £3000 For Four New Teeth And They Failed. Do You Think A Bridge Would Be A Good Option?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can answer my question. Last year I paid for four front porcelain crowns and I was also advised to have root canals which came to a total of £3,600. 3 months later one tooth came out when I was eating. Then, as months went on, all of them had to be cemented back in. The dentist now is replacing them with 4 teeth on a bridge. I am really most upset as 3 years ago I paid £3,000 for 4 new teeth and they failed. Do you think that a bridge a good option? Thank you for your reply.

I’m Scared To Have Another Root Canal In Case It Needs Extracting. What Are My Other Options?

Friday, April 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I had root canal many years ago, but it didn’t really cure the infections and I was always in pain. In the end I had to have both teeth extracted. I take great care with my teeth to the extent I have become a bit paranoid. I have now developed another infection which I am told I will have to have either root canal or extraction. I am petrified to have this done in case I lose another tooth, I will also have no teeth on my upper left jaw. What are my options? Thank you in advance for your reply.

After A Gum Infection My Dentist Said My Tooth Has Five More Years Left. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014
Q.

Dear Mark. I had a root canal on my upper front tooth. This tooth had a plastic material fitted as it was half broken 10 years ago. How long do I have to wait before I can have a porcelain crown fitted on the tooth, as the gum has a visible gap and there is some significant aesthetic damage? Also the dentist left me with a gum infection to deal with and said my tooth has five more years and that I would need an implant. What is the best thing to do as I am a young and attractive and this is getting me down?
Many thanks.
