My crown has fallen out and after visiting a dentist I was told that my root filling is not all the way to the end of the root.
The root filling and crown were fited about 20 years ago. I have had no pain from the tooth. The dentist tried to drill out the old root filling but told me it was not possible to do so as the ‘cement’ is too hard to drill through.
She doesnt want to put a new crown on top. (Actually I also still have the old crown which she also doesnt want to stick back in). Instead she has recomended that I have a bridge, but I am not keen on damaging healthy teeth on either side.
I am totally confused and considering a second opinion when I came accross this website.
Is it so bad to have a root filling not to the end. I have not ever had any pain from this tooth since the crown was fitted all those years ago.
What can you recomend?

I had veneers fitted on my 8 front teeth -upper & lower – about 18 months ago and was in severe pain for about 4 months following the procedure. Since then i’ve been ok but for the past 3 days the pain in my front tooth is causing me the same distress, constant throbbing in my teeth, sore tongue & gums, sleepless nights and back on the pain-killers! How long should I put up with this pain before i seek medical assistance from my dentist? Will the pain subside like it did after 4 months after the initial treatment? Is it possible to have root canal treatment without removing the veneer & will this get rid of the pain I am in???

I was woken up on friday night, with really sharp throbbing pains in my tooth, molar, which was crowned about 6 months ago, I have been taking painkillers for 2 days but is no good, pain is still there and is strong, do you think i have an infection in my crown?what could this be? I have not had any root treatment for this tooth. I have had another crown on a different tooth, but that has not given me any problems, I havent made an dentist appointment yet should I make one? I recently broke two of my front teeth in an accident and so far I have had to have 1 removed as it couldnt be saved and currently it has been replaced with a temporary cap which is attached to 3 post. This tooth that has to be removed currently still has the roots and my denstist has already killed off all the nerves before replacing it with the temporary fixture as mentioned above.

On the second tooth which is one of the two front ones,it broke half way which my dentist has fixed with some filling materials that has covered the broken part. After a month from this treatment, I have had to return to get a root canal treatment on this tooth as it was giving me a lot of problems. My dentist after hearing my description of the pains as well as my xrays had given me two options which was to do a root canal or provide me with some antibiotics for a couple of months to see the reaction. I had opted for a root canal as I thought that down the line I will probably have to get it done anyway as my teeth had broken half way and the nerves had been exposed. Now I dont know if I had made the right decision by opting for a root canal this early and the thought of having to deal with discolorations etc had been really disheartening. Please advise if I did make the right choice, I am awaiting my next round of review so I could get it crowned and I wondering if it is also a good idea to get it crowned this early as the current fixture placed on it is not giving me to much problems.

My last question is this, according to my dentist the tooth that he has removed which I had mentioned above can be replaced with a crown that can attach to middle tooth that I had broken which will also be crowned. he has suggested that I pull out the root and have this procedure done. Is this the same as having a bridge??furthermore I had wanted a post and core done but he had advised against it as there hasnt been much teeth left after he had pulled it out and whatever is left is above the gum line and any post and core treatment will require that they pill off part of the gum to get it done. I had sort a second opinion from another dentist and he had advised that it could be possible to still do a post and core. Now I am confused as to what I need to get done. I want something done so that I wont have to worry about it falling off or giving me any problems in the next few years and so therefore would appreciate any advise that could give me some comfort and direction on what procedure to undertake before I make any decisions. i want to ask about infected root canal with abscess my treatment plan is prescription of antibiotic with frequent irrigation and inter appiontment the canal left open with cotton fiber without temperory filling or close it with temperory filling?

and what is the proper antibiotic should be prescribe to this case ?

and deep cavities in subgingival caries what is the type sub base used in this case? thank you for your time

After I got my braces put on 4 years ago my right front tooth turned gray/black at the top. My dentist told me that It lost blood flow and was dying. He said I must have had some tooth injury as a child where it was damaged, and with the braces moving it, it lost its blood flow completely. I do not recall any tooth injury as a kid but that was my dentists best guess. I had a root canal but it is still very dark. Now my braces are off and it is very dark and embarrassing. Will it fall out? What are my options to get it fixed? The dentist I used said it was an osteopathic tooth death. I am afraid if I pay to get a crown, it will then fall out and so I do not want to get a crown if there is a chance it will fall out anyway. Also it sometimes has a weird sensation, not necessarily pain but I can feel the tooth and it isn’t pleasant. I do not smile now and I really want it fixed with the best possible outcome. i had a tempory filling do about 2 mouth ago and in the last week ive been in a lot of pain not being aball to sleep so webt to my dentist and they said that my fillin was still intack and didnt look like i had and infection as my teeth didnt hurt but they gave me 250mg of amoxicillin to take one three times a day for 5 days but on the second day i woke up wth sowen lower jaw and in a lot of pain with the tooth i had my filling i have a constant pain in my jaw with a throbbing pain from my tooth i havent been aball to eat and this is my third day can you please help me want is it can want will need doing thank you so much

I have a front tooth decay, which I had filled with no immediate issues . The tooth was sensitive for a while when one day pain alleviated and the gum below the teeth started to swell up. the dentist here took a few xrays of it and asked whether I wanted to go with root canal treatment. However in the xray near the nerve of the tooth (nerve in the upper part of the tooth and beneath the gums), we could see a black spot. Taking this black spot into consideration do you think normal root canal treatment can go ahead or should i consult a specialist to assess before procedure with the root canal treatment.

i have a good tooth in my front upper jaw (central incisor 1) but its twisted and is overlapping upon its next one (another central incisor. Now thats making my smile look bad. I have seen a dentist and he, after examining x-rays, told theres no space between my teeth and brace are not an option for me. then he suggested me a solution that is he will grind the tooth and root canal and then put on a crown.

is it ok?? is what the doctor saying right? after coming back home i got a question that is why do i need a root canal? Cant i simply grind and wear the crown?

is this the right solution that he suggested.. is there any new technology in the developed world?

Dear Sir,  I have the problem of cavity and now I have been advised for RCT.

Please let me know that if a person carier of Hepatitis-B, then there are any dangrious/disadvatages by RCT or NOT.

Secondly, how much period the filing will remain? Please also inform me that RCT is the solution of paid and cavity.

Thirdly, how to prevent from Cavity in future to other thooth?

Sometime I felt paid in other parallel theat, those not affected by cavity? What is the reason for this?
