Should My Tooth Still Be Sore 5 Days After Root Canal Treatment?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015
Q.

I had a root canal done by my NHS dentist and 2 weeks later it was still bothering me. I then went to see a specialist endodontist who performed another root canal procedure (this time taking 2 hours and using a microscope and other specialist equipment). This was 5 days ago. I am able to bite down and eat on this tooth.  It is not sensitive to hot or cold but I would describe it as still aching on and off during the day. I would describe it as being generally sore. Is this normal and can it take a while for the tooth to settle after having all this work carried out on it? I haven’t had the crown put on yet and just have a temporary filling.

Why Am I Still Experiencing Pain After Root Canal Treatment?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2015
Q.

In December 2014 I had a root canal post and core and then a metal/porcelain crown put on my lower “eye” tooth. It has been overly sensitive since then. I went back to my dentist who x-rayed it and could not find what is causing the pain at all. I am at my wit’s end with this whole thing at the cost of almost $2000. Any reason why I should still have pain of any kind? I feel pain when I touch or rub the tooth and it is painful to floss around and in between the crown and the tooth next to it. I also have a bad odour sometimes when I floss around this area. I am vigorous when flossing because I feel something is getting stuck there. Overall I do not think this was a good cap job. What are my options?

My Molar Will Only Last 2/3 Years. Is There Any Treatment I Can Have To Make It Last?

Thursday, March 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Riten. I’ve had one of my back molars removed three years ago (I don’t believe it should have been removed as the dentist failed to perform a root canal and decided to remove it). That being said the molar next to it has had root canal treatment. My question is how can this tooth be protected and can it be retreated with a ‘new’ root canal? My dentist thinks it won’t last more than another 2/3 years as an estimate and has suggested capping it? I am looking for a more long term solution. I am 32. The other side is fine and usable with minor fillings.

A Dentist Has Previously Damaged A Tooth And Now It’s Discoloured. Would A Veneer Work?

Monday, November 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello, my right front tooth is visibly darker then left one. It has been badly damaged by dentist 7 years ago (not in the UK) and changed colour. It has been re-done few times, but I never did get the perfect result. Both the shape and colour is different and it is thicker than my left tooth.
Is it possible to make it the same as left front tooth with a porcelain veneer?
I can attach picture of it if needed? Thank you.

Half Of My Filling Fell Out, Do I Need An Extraction?

Thursday, July 25th, 2013
Q.

Hi. I had a root canal on one of my molars a while ago and half of the filling fell out whilst eating. I went to my dentist and she took the rest of it out and put a temporary white filling in and said I’d need an extraction. She wasn’t very nice and didn’t mention anything else and never got back to me when I called. That was a few months ago and now the temporary filling has fully eroded away so I have a big gap in my tooth. The ‘inside’ of the tooth is black and yellow and pretty gross, which I’m concerned about. It is not causing me any pain at all. I was wondering, by the sounds of this, is there any other treatment possible instead of an extraction? I’m only 17 and really do not want an extraction.
Thank you for reading I hope you can reply.

Can I Receive Root Canal Treatment Even When I’m Wearing Braces?

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi I was just wondering if you could advise me with something? Is it possible to have root canal treatment whilst wearing fixed braces? I have a swollen throbbing root in my cheek from my canine tooth which is getting worse. I have had my braces for 3 months and plan on having the treatment completed after 10 months. The molar next to this tooth was extracted 5 1/2 months ago due to a failed root canal treatment I don’t know if this is a possible reason for my problem now. I have no idea whats caused it all I know is that it’s causing me great concern now. I’m also in a lot of pain, it’s affecting everything I do. Just so you know, I do brush regular and use a fluoride mouthwash daily. With this in mind, do you have any advice for me? Thank you for your time.

How Long Does The Pain Last Following Root Canal Treatment?

Monday, July 15th, 2013
Q.

I have had a root canal done 2/26/13 on a bottom rear molar # 31,how long does the pain last from the root canal and I was told to chew on opposite side soft foods until my restoration, prior to that that regular dentist said I would need a appointment in two or three weeks to finish the restoration (crown),now Im told I cannot get a appointment till April with permanent crown finished in May.Is that to long to wait with a temporary white filling that is used ?? I am very sensitive to pain and have high anxiety with dental work.

My veneers appear grey in colour when I have a photo taken, why is this?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

I have veneers on my four front top teeth. I originally had them just on the top two teeth (one is dead route canal filled, knocked out when i was younger on a trampoline with no padding) the other front tooth was chipped when i was younger. When i was 29 i got them redone and my top front teeth made smaller (as they were large) and i had my other two done, to make it better.
They look great to look at, but when i have a photo taken and smile with my teeth showing they seem to come out a grey/black colour – is there anything that can be done to my teeth now? Also is it possible to now wear a brace to straighten my teeth now? i was told because i’d had route canal on my top tooth i wouldnt be able to (40 next year)
Thank you
