My teeth have moved and now I am unentitled to free ortho, how much will it cost?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011
Q.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible you could help me out by giving me some advice and giving me an idea on what I’m entitled to. I’m 18 years old but in full time education and I had my braces taken off a year or so ago and was given a retainer, within in the 6 months of having the retainer on my current dentist told me to chuck them out as I no longer needed them? Now two of my bottom teeth have overlapped and one of my top teeth has shifted back a little. I’m aware that now I’m 18 I may have to pay towards it, but hopefully not £2000+ as not much work is needed to be done. I was wondering if you could tell me how much it is going to cost me? And if I am entitled to any discounts of any sort due to still being in education.

Many thanks,

What can i do about my concerns with my retainer now I have a new orthodontist owns the practice?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

Andrew, you recommended to me recently that I see my orthodontist over concerns that my teeth are shifting under my bonded retainer. However, somebody else owns the practice now and they won’t let me see him, even though I am happy to pay for him and he did the treatment for me brilliantly. Is this unfair treatment on me and what is the best thing to do? I highly trust this orthodontist and I am upset that they won’t let me see him even though I said I will pay. Can I complain?

Should I get a fixed or permanent retainer?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I am into my 7th month of 6 month smiles treatment. My dentist is telling me that he is going to fit a permanent bonded retainer behind my teeth after treatment. I haven’t been given a choice of wearing a removable retainer. My main concern is that I will no longer be able to floss. Should I be able to opt for a removable, or is it better to have a permanent bonded retainer fitted?

After my braces were removed there was still a gap, what can be done to close this?

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr. Riten
I choose you cause you have a great smile! A dentist with a great smile its a must!
When i was 20 years old, i had a incluse canine on the palate and the 1st “milk”canine didnt fell. Unfortunatly at that time they decided to take it off instead of tracking him to the place. So i dont have my upper left canine. I made a profile with the ortondontist years later cause it could fall eventualy..so we decided to use the braces, take the “milk canine” and a pre molar on the upper right side and arrange all teeths…after 2 and a half years, it turned nicely…EXCEPT…i moved to italy, and i finished the last year with braces here….they places my “pre molar” as a canine, but it doesnt has the exact size… there was a stage where it was but now i only have the splint do to maintainance after you take the braces off…and i have a gap !!! :( i went to the dentist yeasterday and he said it CANT Be done to close that gap…!!! i saw so many videos online on cosmetic dentistry, i think maybe he is not an expert??? Should i put braces again? look another dentist who can use composite to close this gap? i want to smile again….
thank you! Best regards!

I always wore my retainer, but now I have a small gap in my teeth, what can I do about it?

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011
Q.

Hi there,
I previously had braces for my front gap after 5 years of religiously wearing my plastic retainer the gap has re-opened. Is this the most effective treatment for me? i worry this is an awful lot of money for quite a small gap.

Look forward to hearing from you

Can braces correct my ‘buck teeth’?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

I have had braces before about 4 years ago. And wore my retainers for about a year then stopped. I have noticed my teeth have moved forward and look quite buck. Wondered if i did get braces would it make the teeth not look as buck?

I didn’t wear my retainer and now my left lateral incisor has rotated back – what can I do?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi,

I had orthodontic braces taken out about 3 years ago and I didnt wear my dentures because they were really uncomfortable. Most of my teeth have remained straight but left lateral incisor has rotated back.

Will wearing my retainers now correct the rotation? What else can I do to correct it?
