Can Stem Cell Technology Be Used To Create New Teeth And Is This Treatment Now Available?

Monday, February 10th, 2014
Q.

Hi Doctor, my canine tooth cracked while I was eating crisps after a temporary filling was done.
It was a small line at the side of the tooth and my dentist told me that I would need a crown and there is nothing that they could do. I have a crown now and it is not as long as my natural canine tooth, I was wondering if I could get a matching (longer) crown to replace it and if it would be suitable for canine teeth. Also I have the feeling that if I had said this and went to another dentist that my natural tooth and shape could have been saved. One more quick question as I am aware of stem cell technology, and wonder if stem cells can be taken from old dried up baby teeth? Or if you know the people growing new teeth and if they need volunteers, I’d like to try it.

My Crown Has Fallen off the Implant, Do I Have To Have The Treatment Done Again?

Friday, August 2nd, 2013
Q.

I had an implant and crown put in three years ago never had any problem until yesterday morning. I was eating and the crown fell off the implant. I found the crown and the smell was so bad I had to run brush my teeth and rinse my mouth out. I noticed that the implant post is still in there but the crown I have in my hand, Do I have to go and have the procedure done all over again from the beginning or will they just reattached the crown to the implant again? Please help as I am unsure whether I have to pay the 5000 dollars again or not.

The temporary crowns I was given and I am now worried the prospect of final restorations. Can you advise?

Friday, July 27th, 2012
Q.

I discussed with my regular dentist about having my 15 year old crowns replaced, as I thought that they looked bulky and fake. She agreed, and said that she could improve on them. She took several photos and impressions and I went yesterday to have the temporary crowns fitted. They are hideous! They are longer than the original ones, they project more and there is a gap to one side which wasn’t as large before. She had to do some modification to the temporaries in order to achieve something I can live with until 2 Aug, however, I am extremely worried about the final outcome. What are my options if the final crowns are not to my liking? I am begininng to think I have made a big mistake trying to improve on my teeth. Many thanks for any advice you can give.

My crowns are chipped, do I need new ones or will cosmetic bonding fix them?

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012
Q.

I crown my four front teeths (a pair on each side) almost 15 years ago. 10 years ago it chips in front in the middle, but i went to a dentist to do a bonding in the edge to mend it. Today, both pair of teeth receded and the gap reappear. My right hand side pair of teeth obviously seems stick together, look unnatural, when people speak to me, i feel that they keep staring at my teeth and know it is a crown. i can see laughter in thier eyes. And the gap in the middle making me uneasy and very self conscious. I don’t know what to do, do i need to redo the crown or put some layers of veneer or bonding to touch up the worn teeth. please advice more in detail and specific because after this i will go to a dentist and have my teeth checked, but i like to know before hand what should be my good alternatif and not making more wrong steps cause it already causing headache and making me withdrawn from people, i try not to open my mouth or smile in order not to show my teeth!

Should I have an apicectomy or root canal treatment and replace old crown?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011
Q.

Hi
I was planning on having some cosmetic dental crown work re-done, but have discovered via x-rays that I have an infection around the tip of a previously root-filled crowned canine tooth. The dentist has suggested either an apicocectomy, or root canal and removal of old screw post/crown in this tooth and the one next to it, as this also has an old screw post, and the tip of its root is fairly close to the area of infection. Which would be the treatment of choice, please? I am concerned about the removal of the old posts (although I was going to have these teeth re-crowned anyway). thanks for your reply.

Should I choose a better quality crown at a higher price or go for a cheap one?

Monday, March 14th, 2011
Q.

I had a crown put on one of my molar teeth 23 years ago. It was slightly damaged 2years ago and my dentist advised me to have a replacement as there has been a small build up of plaque next to the damaged part. So I am having the old one taken off this week, but I don’t know which kind to have put on. I have been told that if I’d like a tooth coloured one I have two options. One would cost me £385, or a slightly lesser quality one would be £250. I am 51years old. Which do you think I should choose? Is the £385 crown so much better? Thank you.
