My front teeth are not proper what are the options other than braces?

Q. My two front teeth sick way out what could be done to fix them other than braces

A. Hi many thanks for your email, the other option would be to use veneers/crowns to bring them back in the smile. however the teeth may require root canal treatment. there is a case on my website under goofy teeth which give you an idea of the type of treatment that can be achieved.

Can veneers be fitted if one has gum disease?

Q. I suffer from severe teeth grinding and i also have bad gum disease although i am only 34 and have never had a filling. i went away travelling and have not seen a dentist for over 5 years. i would like to know if i am treatable and what my options are for a smile makeover as my teeth are now yellowing, there is some movement and the gums are tender sometimes, I have started to become very self conscious and upset about it. Can veneers be fitted if someone has gum disease, what costs am i looking at or do you think i need false teeth?

veneers are better if there is alot of enamel left on the tooth and the teeth to be veneered are not already heavily filled.

crowns are more destuctive as more tooth tissue has to be prepared but are more protective when the teeth are more heavily filled or there is little enamel left on the tooth.

I m interested in permanent fangs which one is better option veneers or implants?

Q. I am interested in permanent fangs. I’ve heard of two options– one where you can have your teeth sanded down to a certain point, and have veneers placed over them, and they would be like that, permanent, for 15 or so years before they needed to be replaced. And then the more expensive sort– titanium rod implants where the actual bone is modified to give VERY permanent-no-changing-your-mind-later fangs. Is there any more infortmation on these? More specifically, I’d like to know about the former, because I am interested in having it done. Are these permanent to the point where they will not fall off even eating tough things such as steak? To sleep with them on, and have them until the 15 years or so is up? Can you give any more infortmation about these, and if you do them? For how much, if so, and every fifteen years, will I have to pay again? And in the event that I may want to switch over from these to the titanium rod fangs– could I? Thank you.

Should I go for whitening or veneer for the tooth which had root treatment?

Q. I had root treatment on one of my front teeth years ago and the tooth has gone grey, would whitening help or would a veneer be preferable, if so how much would one veneer cost? Thanks

A. Hi many thanks for your email, the gery tooth can be treated by internal whitening but this is sometimes unpredictable and even if the tooth whitens sometimes the colour can reverse.

the veneer is more predictable and long term, the cost of a single tooth veneer can range from £500 – £1200. dependant on where you go. my charge is usually £750.

Q. Hello I have quite big teeth, which I hate. I’d love to have dental surgery of some kind to fix this problem. I’m not quite sure exactly what I would need to have done though. What do you suggest?

A. Thanks for your question, you may wish to consider veneers. These are a thin layer of porcelain which is designed to fit over the front surface of your tooth, similar to a false finger nail, which can be used to improve the size, shape and colour of your teeth. The number of teeth which would need veneers to improve the overall aesthetic appearnace would depend on your smile. I hope this helps.

I have two chipped front teeth can I get crowns veneers from nhs?

I’m 17 and still in college, I’ve got 2 chipped front teeth due to rough play as a child, also some of my adult teeth are missing according to an x ray they aren’t there so I’m stuck with rather worn down baby teeth. I never smile in photos and my teeth severly effect my confidence. Can I get crowns/vineers on the NHS?

A. You might qualify for NHS treatment but it is cosmetic treatment so I can really say for sure whether you will get your teeth sorted out on the NHS. Go to your NHS dentist and see what they can do for you.

A. Normally veneers or crowns are the only option in these cases however very good aesthetic results can be acheived.

Crowns fitted to my teeth are causing problem

Q. Hi, I have recently had 4 crowns fitted to my front teeth. They were fixed with temporary cement at first and all of them fell off within a couple of weeks. Since being fitted with permanent cement they have been in place for a couple of months but they feel like they are moving. I have previously had veneers and they sometimes used to give a clicking sensation which i was used to yet with the crowns it is much more often. I am worried that the crowns are not fitted properly (especially as they fell off) and my own tooth may become damaged. My dentist says there is nothing wrong and not to worry. Can you please provide some advice?
