Q. i hv extremely sensetiv teeth i want to know if i can hv teeth whitened at dentist without using peroxide. and what is safe to use for whitening teeth on a low budget. thankyou
A. hi
any non peroxide systems will not bleach the teeth per se , but if you have a high amount of surface staining air abrasion is very effective but you will still experiance sensitivity during this procedure which takes around 20 minutes in chair and is cheaper than bleaching.

Q. Hi Rob, I am considering in-surgery whitening and wondered if you could advise on the best products/procedure available? (highest quality/results possible) How long it lasts? A good cost benchmark etc? My teeth are in good shape so i have ruled out veneers as i think whitening will give me the results i’m after. In particular i have heard of a “bio” laser treatment but have found very little info (I assume then that this is just the normal Zoom style treatment of gel + laser). I am based in Birmingham so would appreciate any recommendations for a surgery to go to! Many thanks in anticipation of your help! Regards
A. Zoom! advance power is the best surgery product that I have come across. There is more competition in the home systems. StJohns Birmingham is located at 18 Bennett’s Hill on the corner with New St ( were the christmas market starts ) We offer a free initial assesment call Amy 01216430610 for details.

Q. Hello! So here’s the deal: I am getting my braces off in about 2years,and I already have stains. I need to get them off like pronto before my mom notices. And I don’t have time to go see a specialist without her knowing. And I only have like $30. What should I use to get rid of them?
A. Book a hygiene visit at your local NHS dentist it will be free or low cost.

Q. my hygienist removed lots of plague on lower front teeth, exposing gum and black marks on my lower teeth. Spittal ? is coming through my lower teeth now when i talk, making me very self conscious, also with the gum recession, and the black marks which look like gaps, i need someone to help advise me on the next step. I am trying to stop smoking as i know this is not doing my gums any good. I take corsidil and eurofril mouth was every day, and gently brush my teeth, – no more scrubbing up and down. I hope i do not loose any lower teeth.
A. Hi
This is a very common result if gum recession, sometimes in severe cases the teeth could be veneered, crowned or filled to make them look better and to fill the dark gaps. This is assuming that the teeth have a healthy long-term prognosis. If not then you may need to consider removing the teeth and placing an implant supported bridge.
Ideally you need to seek the advice of a dentist experienced in cosmetic and gum treatments.
I hope this helps
regards
Andrew

Q. Hi there , Please could you give me some information on the veneers . For years I have had 2 front veneers which have fallen off on several occasions , I am constantly having to pay out to have them replaced . Also I have never really been happy with the colour of my teeth which has got worse after having my children and it is my dream to have them all veneered to give me the perfect hollywood smile !I feel mine are grey and discoloured in places. However my husband would have a heart attack if he is landed with this bill , therefore I will have to save myself as i really would like to get this done to boost my confidence. Is there any way of obtaining a great deal when thinking of having extensive work? I am 33 and this has been constantly on my mind for the past 10 years ! Also do the come with any warranty i.e 5 years etc. I would be grateful for any help you could give me. Many Thanks
A.
I recommend having a cosmetic consultation so all the differnet options can be explained to you with full costings. We offer 0% finace on treatment as do many dentists so you can spread your treatment costs out over a number of years. I would always worry about you having “cheaper quick fixes” which do not last and may not give you the result you wants. one of the best parts of my job is seeing people after they have their teeth treated and the transformation in confidence.
I hope this helps

Q. I’m getting my teeth bleached as of Wednesday, i had the tray impressions done last week, i’m hoping also hoping to start champix as of end of kids school holidays, i was wondering what the pros and cons are and what side effects there is also how long or how many nights do i have to wear the mould for, i do want my teeth looking as white and bright as possible.
A. The protocols vary for different bleaching systems. In my surgery the patient has night time bleaching for 14 nights followed by power bleaching on the 15 th day. We find this gives the best results.
