Q.
When i smile you can only see the tips of my teeth and i am wondering whether tooth bonding to lengthen my teeth slightly (because some of my teeth are positioned slightly higher than others) would help?

Does teeth whitening work with porcelin veneers

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
Hi! can you get your teeth whitened if you have already had work done on them? ie. fillings. can you get just a couple of porcelin veneers and then the rest of your teeth whitened to match the colour or would it be noticeable and look silly?

I am unhappy with my 2 new veneers please help

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
I have just recently had 2 porcelain veneers. Basically the teeth at either side of my 2 front teeth, were a little too small for the space and I didn’t like it much. I asked my dentist about veneers and he said that they would improve my smile. However, I can really feel them. When I run my tongue over my mouth, I feel how ‘raised’ the veneer is compared to my own teeth and I don’t know if this is normal. Also, the veneer doesn’t feel like a tooth on the ‘bottom’. It feels thicker a little rounded, unlike my own teeth. Is this what veneers are like? I really am not happy and I haven’t got what I expected. Please help!

My daughters have fluorosis and overbite would micro abrasion work

Friday, May 30th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have 2 daughters age 9 and 10 who both have moderate white fluorosis stains on their front teeth. Other children are now picking up on this and calling them cruel names as this makes the rest of their teeth appear a yellow colour. Furthermore, they are both unfortunate enough to have overlapping teeth and an overbite. They have both been referred to the orthodontist but they may not fit NHS criteria but we would fund treatment ourselves if this is the case. However, the fluorosis is the main source of worry as our own dentist just advises 18 and have their teeth bleached?? I have read about microabrasion – would a private cosmetic dentist consider doing this now- particularly as they may be undergoing orthodontic treatment in the future. Any advice you could offer would be very gratefully received.

Mother has discoloured long front teeth with a gap can this be fixed

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
My mother in law has two very prominent top front teeth. They are very long and discolored and there is a substantial gap in between them. She would like this to be fixed, as it prohibits her from smiling in photos and it does nothing for her confidence. She has been to her own dentist, who said he could either remove the teeth and give her a plate, or lower the gum. She would like to know if there are more cosmetic options, rather than resorting to drastic measures. Can you advise her?

composite veneers or porcleain veneers on bottom teeth?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008
Q.
I had some porcelain veneers done 4yrs ago on my top front teeth, which still look like new now. I went to see my new dentist at same practice to enquire about porcelain veneers for bottom teeth, but was informed that I wouldn’t be able to have them so was told I would have to have composite veneers. I had them done just prior to xmas 2007 and already the composite on 2 are badly worn. I was informed procedure would take approx 30mins per tooth, yet I had 6 done in 90mins! I would appreciate your views and advice on this matter. Have I been misinformed? If so, is there anything I can do about it?
