I suggest you get on top of your periodontal condition (<a href="http://www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/gum-disease.html">gum disease</a>) by regularily seeing a hygienist or periodontist and then I would put braces on after your gums are stable. <div class="bubbleBottomstrGreen"><strong>Q.</strong> I have a temporary bridge from 7-10 and had bone graft 7 months ago in 8 &amp; 9 done by an Oral Surgeon in preparation for implant placement. I have lost teeth 8 &amp; 9 a long time ago and had a lot of gum recession. My prosthodontist has referred me to a periodontist because my gums on tooth # 7 has been really red the past few months. The periodontist said I need crown lengthening. She doesn&#8217;t recommend placing two implants in teeth 8 &amp; 9 due to esthetic reasons. I am confused because my Oral Surgeon wanted to place implants. Should I just have the bridge done at this point? Thanks.,</div>

<div class="bubbleBottomstrGreen"><strong>Q.</strong> I have now for 4 years been suffering with receeding gums and feel as though my dentist is not giving me the suport I need as I am on his books as an NHS patient, and if I went to him as a private patient I would be treated better. All he has said to me is that I must concentrate on cleaning and not getting stressed too much as this is a big cause of gum recession. He has now taken 4 teeth out at the back as he said we no longer need them and wants to take a further 4 at the opposite side out. Said this will aid healthier gums, but looking at your profile you has said that implants and bridges are need to aid healthier gums. Where do I go, I have asked him take them all out as I do not want to be in a position where I have no gums left to hold in dentures when the time comes that I have no teeth left to take out anymore. The more I stress about this the more I feel that the problem is getting worse. I need help.,</div>

<div class="bubbleTop"></div>
<div class="bubbleBottomLeft"><strong>A.</strong> It sounds like you may need to see a gum specialist to find out why your gums are receeding, as although stress is a factor, oral hygiene and thorough professional cleaning by an Hygienist or a gum specialist (periodontist) are really the most important things in gum therapy. Why not ask for a referral to a periodontist or, if you are in our area I would be happy to arrange a consultation with my practice&#8217;s Periodontist</div>

I am 39. 6 years ago I had a child and subsequently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The <a href="http://www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/gum-disease.html">gum disease</a> has accelerated amazingly in the last 3 years and although the tests appear to show that from taking thyroxine, my thyroid function is normal, I have been arguing that I feel anything but normal. I recently paid for provate tests which suggested I also have adrenal fatigue and recent blood tests revealed the presence of thyroid antibodies. I now also have urticaria &#8211; research suggests this could be linked to auto-immune disease. I wonder if all these (and many other small issues including sinusitis) could be linked to auto-immune and whether that has a link to why the <a href="http://www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/gum-disease.html">gum disease</a> has advanced so quickly&#8230;&#8230;..can you help &#8211; I have had a real problem getting the doctors to consider any link &#8211; a 5 minute appt will only deal with one issue! My dentist is going to refer me to a specialist but I am concerned that once again I will end up being treated but not dealing with the route cause. Thanks,</div>
