treatment for periondotal disease on NHS

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008
Q.
Ive been told that i have got periondotal disease i have lost one upper front tooth because of this but i wear a partial denture. its my lower 6 teeth im concerned about they are all out of allignent the two middle ones have pushed forwrd and the others either side are longer and my gums have reeceded i have asked my local dentist to extracted my lower 6 teeth but she wont do this on the nhs , so im thinking if i go privately how much would this cost for me to have 6 teeth extracted and have a fixed bridge put there in place my life would be so less complicated. thankyou for your tme.

My teeth are falling out I smoke and I am seeing a periodontist

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
I have had periodontal disease for several years now and despite seeing a periodontist for treatment, nothing has really improved. I have lost several teeth and know I will lose more as several are now very loose. I have been looking for info and options on the net and REALLY DO NOT WANT DENTURES! I’m thinking of implants but realise the bone density is an issue but also learnt about bone grafts. If my teeth are removed and I need grafts how long would it be between treatments and before I could possibly have the implants. I’m sorry I smoke – would this prevent this treatment? What treatment could you recommend? I can’t eat properly and certainly don’t smile and I’m finding this situation very depressing. Many thanks for your reply.

gum disease due to smoking cause loose teeth

Q.
Hi. I have gum disease after many years of smoking. One or two of my teeth are slightly loose. I have recently given up smoking. Will my gum problem improve and would I still be able to have veneers?

How can I slow down badly receded gums that are affecting my smile

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I’ve noticed that in the last 6 months my gums are becoming really badly receded and it’s really beginning to affect my smile and the appearance of my teeth. I have always had a problem with receding gums but I can really notice it now. Is there anything i can do to slow this down or cosmetically change this from happening?

I have periodontal disease and wobbly crowns can i just replace the crowns

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
I have two crowns at the front of my mouth which I have had for approx 15 years. I would like them replaced – as I have periodontal disease and this has caused them to move. One of the crowns is slightly wobbly. Would I be right in thinking that if they were replaced this would resolve the wobblyness! My dentist (NHS) has said to take out my 4 front teeth and replace them with a temporary denture before having a fixed bridge. But surely it would be better to keep my own teeth and have the two crowns replaced wouldn’t it? I really do not want to have to wear a denture as I have very bad gag refelexes – I am only 38 – so surely it would be better to replace the crowns. Many thanks for your answer.
