How Much Will My Partial Denture Affect The Look Of My Face?

Friday, February 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I’d like your advice. I’m having 4 top teeth removed for partial denture. They stick out to a V shape at the front. Now there isn’t much space so the front teeth will be made narrower to fit the gap, will this look normal? My top lip is full, so will bringing the teeth back straight make my lip really thin?
My chin sticks out a bit an I’d like to know if this will this make it stick out more? I am desperate to alter my sticky out teeth and have a better smile. At the moment the 4 front teeth stick out so much they rest on my bottom lip. Thanks.

My Maryland Bride Has Fallen Out For The Second Time In Six Months. Surely It Should Last Longer Than This?

Monday, January 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have had a Maryland bridge for 6 months on my front tooth to replace the one at the side of it. It has now fallen out twice so I have put my partial denture back in. This morning the tooth next to it (my front one) broke while I was cleaning my teeth. What am I best off doing as the front one has had a white filling in for a while. Surely a bridge should last longer than this? I can not afford lots of money at the moment as I only work part time. I look forward to your reply. Many thanks.

I Am Considering A Maryland Bridge, How Long Do They Last With Good Oral Hygiene?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi Marcus. I am considering having a Maryland Bridge put in because I hate wearing the flipper and I don’t want to wait a year for an implant. Is it true that the Maryland Bridge can cause my teeth to darken? How long can the Maryland bridge last with good oral hygiene?
I have already had the initial extraction and grafting done by an oral surgeon. I am now wearing the flipper but don’t like it. Hard to eat with and not easy to talk as I do lectures and training. Would the MB be a wise choice for me?

I Would Really Like To Do Something About The Space Between My Front Teeth, But Implants Are Too Expensive, What Else Can I Do?

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I would really like to know whether you can have a bridge fitted if there is just one tooth at one side and two teeth at the other side. I believe I need a bridge for four teeth? I have a partial denture at the moment, the space is between my front teeth and I would really like to do something about it, but implants are a bit too expensive for me. I have had the dentures for the past thirty years and not sure if anything can be done for me now, perhaps you can advise me on this whether it would be possible to do or not?

Should I Ask My Dentist For Dental Implants?

Thursday, May 16th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Butt. I was wondering if you could help me with something? A few years ago I had a bottom molar removed and the one next to it was removed a few months after. Since then I’ve had a large gap there and nothing has been suggested to fill it, my dentist has never recommended anything. I’ve been looking into dental implants because I feel like my jaw on that side is slipping slightly due to no support. Do you think I need dental implants? Or am I being a little drastic? As I said my dentist has said nothing about the gap, I thought maybe a partial denture? But I am looking for something more permanent. Can you have implants to replace two teeth? I was led to believe it was for a whole row? Thanks.

I don’t feel comfortable smiling because of my partial denture, are dental implants an option for me?

Hello, I have had to wear an upper denture (my 6 front teeth) since 17years old! The ‘so-called’ dentist was more like a butcher telling me it would improve my life and confidence so much! It has succeeded in me never having a ‘confident smile’ and being permanently self conscious! I dread meeting a ‘gentleman’ .I am an attractive women -very fit and healthy but since that day have been miserable! I am now 54 years old -a very fit and youthful 54 I may add. Is it too late to successfully get implants? it makes me weep! I have been a professional singer for over 20 yrs! I hate this! and I Feel miserable! Thank you in advance.
