Am I experiencing such intense pain because of impacted wisdom teeth?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Good morning Dr. Moore, Years ago, I went to see an orthodontist who had told me there wouldn’t be space for my wisdom teeth to grow in and that I would need them removed. This has never happened and they have caused me considerable pain at random intervals since they came some-what in. Recently, I have been experiences a shooting, intense pain stemming from a spot in my skull behind my right ear. This pain is very intense and the right side of my neck bunches every time it happens– which since yesterday morning, has been every minute or so. Could the cause of this pain be my impacted wisdom teeth? I read on this site they can cause cysts or tumours.. Thank you,
,

I’m wearing braces again to fix my overbite again, will they fix it this time?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
ok, well so what happened was that I’ve been wearing braces for almost about …..2 and a half years before I got them removed. Then later I started wearing a retainer, (but only at nights). I kind of slacked off a little, (as in I skipped a few nights) and now after visisting the orthodontist, he told me that my overbite was coming back, my teeth were a little crooked (but when i looked in the mirror, it only moved a tiny bit) So now I have to wear my retainer 24/7 for the next 8 weeks in order to reverse these changes. My problem is that he said there wasn’t a garuntee that it would work, and if it didn’t I would be stuck wearing my braces again to fix my overbite. so I guess what I’m trying to ask is, do you think everything will be back to normal again by 8 weeks as long as I wear them 24/7 ?? I’m really scared that if I do have to wear braces that my mom will kill me. Thanks,

I have been wearing a retainer, but my teeth feel loose. It’s been three months since I told my dentist and it’s not getting better. Any advice?

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
Hi There… I have been back and forth to a dentist for the past 4 years now having my teeth straightened. I now have to wear a retainer at night. However, i have noticed that my teeth are loose and wobbly. My dentist says that this will settle down, but it has been 3 months now and there is no sign that this is getting any better… Is this normal / common. How long will it take to get better and if it doesn’t are there any other corrective treatments that i can have…? Thanks,

My daughter had braces fitted in January and swollen gums and other problems soon followed. Was this an allergic reaction?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010
Q.
My daughter (10) had braces fitted in January. After a week or so she developed small marks, resembling cold sores, on either side of her mouth. They gradually have become much larger and unsightly. I have been told they are not cold sores but maybe connected with the braces. She also has very swollen gums. I am very strict with her oral hygiene and we do everything as we have been directed but the problems is not improving. Last week our orthodontist removed her braces and asked us to return in 1 month. Her mouth and gums have started to cleared up since the metal bar was removed. Could she be allergic to the metal or could it be how we are taking care of her teeth?,

If I were to have my large teeth re-aligned would they have to be filed down too?

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010
Q.
My two front teeth are rather large and, due to sucking my thumb when i was a child, stick out slightly further than the rest of my teeth. My question is, if i had them re-aligned, would i also then need to get them filed down (if this is possible?) or would they just have to be removed from the start? Regards,
