What alternative treatment is there to crowns and what prices?

Monday, March 15th, 2010
Q.
My top front teeth are very large and look out of place with the rest of my teeth, i have discussed this with my dentist and he has advised me to have crowns. I have had fixed braces when i was younger and it didnt give me the results i wanted as i have overcrowding and my teeth soon moved back to the way they were. Before i go ahead i would like to know if there are any other options for me and the cost for any treatments i consider. Thankyou.,

Will braces get in the way of me going to Australia?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I am currently undergoing orthodontic treatment but am no where near finishing. I first applied for treatment when I was 14 but unfortunately my details got lost somewhere which delayed my treatment dramatically. Because of this I am now 18 and have only been having Orthodontic treatment for about 6 months. I have planned to take a gap year to Australia before going to university for a number of years now and would be very dissapointed if my treatment jeapordised this. I am getting my braces through the NHS for free and am wondering what will happen if I go to Australia? Thank you ,

Will braces damage caps already in place?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010
Q.
I am 45. I sucked my thumb until I was 26! I also had a slight left side cross bite. I wore an upper plate brace when I was 11 but wasn’t given anything to keep the teeth in place, so over time they went back to how they were. When I was 30 I had my front teeth capped, as you could not see any of my upper teeth (and I mean any) when I smiled. My mouth was also sucken as you can image and I had deep lines. They brought two teeth over the bottom set of teeth to rectify the cross bite and lengthed the teeth so you could see them. I have a very long lip also so you cannot see my gums. Although the caps have improved my smile and support to my mouth area vastly, my upper set of teeth is still very narrow and the uncapped teeth go inwards, not giving me much support. I am considering braces, however I am frightened the caps which I can’t afford to replace will be damaged? Please note that I am told my teeth are very healthy, it is just that the upper set are displaced. I cannot tell you how trumatic my showing no teeth, while I was growing up has been for me, with people not liking me until they got to know me etc. Even the cutting down of my otherwise healthy teeth and having caps has been a huge truma for me, I’ve never really felt comfortable with the caps. Also can you recommend a good cosmetic/orthadentist. In central or west London. Thank you.,

What can be done about one crooked tooth?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
Q.
I have a back tooth (the one that is next to my wisdom teeth that is crooked. I had the wisdom tooth(this was the tooth behind it) and the tooth in front of it removed because of decay so now that tooth has become crooked. Is there a way to straight that one tooth? I’m preparing to get a bridge placed there but that tooth must be straightened first. My dentist said that I could have it filed down or that I could go to the ortho and get braces. Would I need a full set of braces just for the one tooth?,

Wisdom teeth ruined results of previous braces but what can be done?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi as a teenager, i had braces (train tracks) and after i was finished i was given a retainer to secure my teeth in the correct position. I wore them at night as i was asked for a few months to a year gradually wearing them less. My teeth were straight and i felt no need to wear the retainer no more. Im 20 and about a year ago my my top 2 wisdom teeth came through. as they came through i expireinced no problem. But since then i have noticed that my top teeth on one side have become crooked only slightly and my retainer didnt fit so i couldnt correct the problem. what im worried about is the fact that to this day i still feel them moving and my teeth are now becoming way out of alignment and my bite has become a grinding bite. What do i do, i dnt really want to have braces again and am scared to ask the dentist becuase it will cost so much money which as a student i cant afford. Im just annoyed that it took along time to get my teeth straight and now with in a year they are crooked again. I was never warned of my wisdom teeth being a problem which is why i never took action or cantacted my orthodontist when they came through. Are there any other options that can correct the alignment like a slip on brace. one that is permenent of visiable,
