I Need My Lower Wisdom Tooth Removed.

Monday, August 19th, 2013
Q.

Hello,

I would like to have my lower wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible, as they are causing me a lot of discomfort as they grow through. They have been flaring up off and on for over a year, give me jaw stiffness, headaches, pain, and the inability to close my mouth properly.

My two top wisdom teeth are growing through with minimal problems (minus the normal pain experienced when initially growing through), however the bottom two do not have any space to come through and are as such giving me a lot of grief.

I have the option to go through the NHS but as I have recently changed dentists, I need to go back 3 times before I can be referred.

How much would it cost to have them removed privately under general an and how long is the usual wait for this type of procedure? (I live in Essex and work daily in London.)

Thanks.

20 Years Ago I Had A Wisdom Tooth Out And Have Been Unable To Smile Ever Since, What Options Are There?

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013
Q.

20 years ago I had a problem lower wisdom tooth extracted on the NHS in hospital. It was apparently a difficult extraction. Immediately after I had problems smiling and felt something wrong with the left hand side of my face. People told me my face had changed and I couldn’t smile properly on that side. It felt very knotted. I tried again and again to get someone to take it seriously but nobody in the dental profession would. Maybe I just couldn’t describe it properly to them. However reading the internet I now know what is wrong from other people who have suffered the same. It seems the gum on that side (where the tooth was extracted) is tightly attached to my cheek such that I can’t smile because it’s too tight. The problem has never gone away and still upsets me terribly. The people on the internet seem to have been offered treatment via a laser but that’s been soon after. It’s now 20 years in my case. Could a laser still be used to separate the cheek from the gum that covers where the tooth was extracted?

Hey, I first noticed i had a under bite when i was 14 when my dentist told me that my bottom jaw stuck out more than my top jaw and it was called an over bite after that i avoided smiling in photo’s and if i had to get my picture taking i didn’t smile. Anyway, when i was 18 i got braces on i had them on for 3 years, I was asked at the time – did i want to have the surgery to get it fixed permanently?  i stupidly said no thinking later i could get it done because i was pregnant at the time so when i asked could i get it done i was told no i was too old. i am now 26 years old and was wondering if would now have to pay for the surgery? If that’s true could you tell me how much it would be please? Thanks

I need an oral surgeon, could you recommend one in the South London area?

Thursday, August 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi, My 3 month old daughter has been diagnosed with a tight labial fraenulum (lip tie). We’ve been told that it means that she cannot lift her upper lip properly when feeding and that there is a risk that she will get a gap between her front teeth. We have been trying to look for a dentist or oral surgeon in our area (South East London) who could carry out the frenectomy but we’re not sure where to start. Could you help us and maybe recommend competent practitioners who would successfully perform the operation?
Thanks you.

How can the pressure be removed from a wisdom tooth to stop it from growing outwards?

Friday, August 27th, 2010
Q.
Hello, my boyfriends wisdom tooth is growing outward and into the cheek at the side. This causes him much pain on and off and has done for at least 5 years now. He has been to the dentist, but they said that they wouldn’t want to remove the tooth, because it could paralyse the face. Please can you tell me, can he have the tooth removed next to it, to take the pressure off the wisdom tooth and stop it growing into his cheek ? Many thanks, ,

I suffer from serious sinus infections because my tooth broke off, any advice?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I had a tooth pulled that broke off, after the tooth was dug out and I returned home I noticed the hole looked white and I could suck air thru the hole. I had the dentist look at it and he did a graft, well the graft didn’t work. I went back last week I asked him to pack it before he stitched it he said no and cut it and stitched it together. Well he removed the stitches today and i can still suck air thru it. What can I do to get this taken care of it has been almost 2 years since the original tooth, I have gotten serious sinus infections and dont know where to turn. Can you offer any advise?,
