I hv fixed braces and its causing pain Plz advice

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi. im 26 and at the moment im having some real problems, that is really making me very depressed. last year i was asked to be referred so i could have fixed braces as i was having alot of pressure in my mouth which i was told was due to a over crowd. i was fitted up braces but im a full time student at university and have two young children, i cant afford to have these braces as much as i want to. i have noticed these past few month that my teeth are pushing forward which is causing me a lot of pain, my bite has changed and im now having to hold my jaw at an angle due to this. is there any way i could get any help with having these braces fitted? or would i be able to have them on the nhs? it is really ruining my life at the moment and affecting everything that i do. i have constantly got aches and pains in my mouth, my teeth feel so tight has they are pushing with no where to go, and it also causes headaches and pain at the top of my neck. im at my wits end with it. if u could help me it would be great.

Can a bridge be filled down Plz advice

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I wonder if you can help. I had an upper bridge fitted by an NHS dentist and it really is the worst thing I have ever done. The 4 teeth are massive and I feel my smile has been ruined. I now speak with a slight lisp and have a constant dry mouth. I also now have an over bite. This bridge also sticks out farther than the teeth either side of it. I am so upset about this.My question I guess it – can a bridge be filled down

Is its true that white fillings are provided by NHS?

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi. I read in ‘Guide to NHS dental Services’ that white fillings are provided by NHS(doesn’t specify front or back). I called a few practices to ask this and I was told that white fillings are available only for the front teeth. But my children had white fillings at the back and didn’t pay anything. So which is the truth?

Could the gaps in my teeth be repaired under the NHS

Saturday, October 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi. Many thanks in advance for taking time out to read, and hopefully answer my question. Over 20 years ago I had a dental brace, but for the last few years, my teeth have started to move. It appears that because of the gaps in my teeth I have developed a “rasp or lisp” in my speech, which is very distinctive. My question is this. I realise and accept to have a dental brace will cost me money. I am prepared to pay this. However, in view of the fact the gaps in my teeth are causing me to speak with a lisp/rasp, could the gaps in my teeth (one of which must be close to 1cm) be repaired under the NHS, or if not, would it cost of a dental brace have to be funded soley by myself? I am intent on having a brace, and this question is the first step in progressing. Many thanks

Could have my teeth straightened on the NHS

Saturday, October 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi, im wondering if i could have my teeth straightened on the NHS. I was supposed to have fixed braces when i was younger but i was so scared of having teeth extracted i refued. Now my teeth are overcrowded and somtimes experience pains. I asked my NHS dentist if i could have treatment and he said it would be very expensive. I am on benefits and was wondering if i would have to go private to receive the treatment. My crowded mouth has affected my confidence for years and i really want something done about it and to be able to smile.
