I Have A Narrow Smile And Large Front Teeth. Would Braces Help To Resolve This Problem?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have really good size upper teeth but unfortunately when I smile or talk, they do not show up very well. My teeth start from high up in my gum. My front two teeth are bigger in size than the rest of my upper set of teeth. Because of this reason, I have such a narrow smile.
Can you please recommend me the best treatment for this particular problem? I do not want to end up with a life where I cannot smile. Are braces helpful or would any cosmetic surgery be required? Thanks and regards.

This Might Be A Silly Question. Is It Still Possible To Kiss With Braces On Without Being Sore? My Partner Needs Braces.

Thursday, August 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. This may be a silly question, but my partner is considering teeth straightening. Is it possible to still kiss with braces? Or is it difficult, dribbly and/or sore?

Partner is 57. I reckon he also has a high and narrow roof of mouth. He has some white filling on front of teeth, wants it done as quickly as possible. Do you have any idea which brace could work well for him? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

My Overbite Needs Correcting As I Have TMJ Disorder. Are Invisible Braces Able To Correct My Narrow Arch Problem?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Gambroudes,

I am 28. I have an overbite (from sucking my thumb as a child) and slightly overcrowded mouth. My teeth don’t meet each other properly and cause me problems that similar to TMJ disorder such as neck problems etc.

I want to see an orthodontist, can you recommend one in South East area? Are they able to use invisible braces to correct my problem? Can braces correct a very narrow dental arch by making it wider or would braces only be able to push my front teeth backwards a bit?

Thank you for your time.

Is There A Way To ‘Widen’ My Smile?

Friday, July 26th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr.Hughes,
My question might be silly because it involves the natural way my jaw is shaped. However, I was wondering if there is any way to widen a smile? I have a very small mouth and lips. So when I smile only a total of 4 teeth clearly show. This tends to make my smile look “fake” and I’ve had a lot of people tell me the same. I dont know if it is maybe because my teeth’s alignment curves back more sharply than the average person, or if it has to do with some other factor.
Is there any hope in maybe widening my smile, so i can have a nice full one?

My Teeth Are In Good Condition But My Smile Is Tiny, Can I Alter This?

Thursday, March 7th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I’ve been wondering recently if anything can be done about my teeth as it really bothers me and it makes smiling really uncomfortable for me.

Let me see if I can explain: I have fairly straight, good teeth but what is bothering me is that the actual setting of my teeth is tiny. (The “U” that they sit in is extremely narrow and small.) This means it’s impossible for me to open my mouth wide, my dentist once commented on it but didn’t offer a solution. It also means that when I smile it looks stupid- I don’t have a lovely wide, toothy smile.

I just wish there was a solution. Is there??

Thank you so much

My dentist has created a plan to fix the teeth at the back of my mouth, what do you think of it?

Q.

Hi Dr Moore..I wondered if you could help me? I want veneers for a narrow arch and dark coloured teeth at the back (due to lots of dark fillings). My dentist says he feels that whitening and then composite bonding on the back teeth will be an effective and much cheaper option that will give me the results I want as basically the front teeth are fine it’s just the back ones that you can’t see when I smile. He also says that some back teeth might need crowns at some point and this can be done easily with just the composite veneers to remove. What do you think about this? Is he right? Does it sound like a good plan?? It’s nice of him to try and save me money but i want the best results possible. Thank you for your time!
