Is It Possible To Have A Bonded Retainer Fitted To The Rear Of My Top Set, With One Being A Crown?

Friday, April 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. Quick question for you – is it possible to have a permanent retainer fitted to rear of top teeth – one of which would be a crown? I feel my teeth are moving and before I go to dentist I wanted to check if this was in any way possible – I am scared to bite down on the front teeth – and it’s now affecting what I can and cannot eat? I should also point out that I have missing teeth – I basically have 10 top teeth with no gaps of which 5 are crowns. Any information would be great. Thank you for your time.

Will The NHS Pay For My Dental Implants?

Monday, March 31st, 2014
Q.

Hello there, wondering if you can help me out a little with a difficult problem. I have just had 2 top right back teeth out and 2 bottom right teeth took out and I was told buy my dentist that I cannot wear dentures as I suffer from very bad epilepsy. I have suffered from this all of my life and have been told that the denture route is unsafe in case I have a seizure and swallow or choke on them. Every time I have a seizure I am badly damaging my tongue too, ripping it really badly through the gaps which are now present in my mouth from the missing teeth. The only way I can think of resolving this situation is to get implants. Will the NHS pay for me to have implants in this case do you think?

Thursday, March 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have been having problems with my teeth and some have fallen out and some have been taken out. I feel I am getting nowhere at all it’s one after another and I have lost so much confidence from this and I am scared to smile or laugh loud in company as I feel they will see my teeth. I am wondering how I can go about getting dental treatment at a low cost as I am only in a part time job and not earning enough to pay for the cost at my dentist. Any advice would be greatly received. Thank you.

I Am In Need Of Extensive Dental Work But I Do Not Have The Funds To Pay For It. What Can I Do?

Tuesday, February 18th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Moore, I feel I am in need of extensive dental work but do not have the funds to pay for it. I have many missing teeth some of which are at the front and I feel that having these gaps filled would make a huge difference to how I feel about myself. I also have a pallet that I often struggle to wear and this now needs replacing as more teeth are now missing. I dream about the thought of having permanent implants one day but any advice on how to achieve this would be more than appreciated. I am looking forward to your reply and I hope you can help.

I Don’t Want A Brilliant ‘Hollywood’ Smile, Just One I Can Be Confident In. What Would It Cost Me To Feel Confident Again?

Friday, February 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have quite bad teeth at the moment. What would be the rough cost of getting them fixed. I don’t want a Hollywood smile or brilliant white teeth, I just want them normal and to feel confident when I smile. I have fillings in nearly all my teeth and four are missing and I think at least two other teeth need to be extracted. Thank you for your time, I look forward to your reply.

Will My Dentist Fit My Temporary Dentures Straight Away Or Will I Be Gummy For A While?

Friday, February 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew, I’m getting dentures fitted soon and I’m also having my remaining teeth out and I’m worried I will be left all gummy for a while. Does this happen?  I understand that I may get temporary wax dentures to check the fitting is correct and that the finished dentures will be acrylic. I’m just paranoid ill be Mr Gummy for a while. I would also like to know if the temporary ones are going to hurt or be uncomfortable at all? Thank you.

Q.

Hi Mark, I have no teeth at the front apart from two fangs that is falling out of the gum. I wearing partial denture and I’m wearing a lower denture. The top plate and lower denture is broken and dropping out of my mouth. What work would a dentist do to get my mouth smiling again. I have 6 teeth at the bottom and no teeth on the right and no teeth on the left. What would your advice be to get my mouth back to normal, and what costs would I be looking at? Thank you.

I’ve Been Terrified Of The Dentist Ever Since I Got Work Done In My Twenties. Now I’m 55, Is The Any Hope For A New Smile?

Friday, February 7th, 2014
Q.

Dr Moore, I’ve been terrified of the dentist ever since I got work done in my twenties. I have not been since and as you can imagine my teeth are pretty bad.  I still have 5 front teeth on my top and 9 on my bottom set. The back ones are in bits literally. The teeth are worn down, is there any hope for me? My personal and social life is being affected  as I am avoiding photographs and going to social gatherings. I am 55 years old and would like a smile back before it’s to late if it isn’t already.
