I Have Been Told That I Could Have A Lower Bone Graft For Dental Implants. Does This Sound Correct?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi. I have a full lower denture that is totally loose and unretentive to the point where I have to remove it in order to eat, although aesthetically it looks good.
I have been advised that I need a bone graft as the lower gum has been ground down to such an extent. I have no suction retention whatsoever due to a very dry mouth induced by necessary medication I need to take. I have been advised that after a lower bone graft I could be fitted with two conventional implants to give retention. My previous mini implants were unsatisfactory and needed to be removed. Does the advice I have been given sound right to you and does your clinic carry out such work?

Many thanks.

Could I Have An Upper Plate Attached With No Pallet? How Is This Achieved?

Thursday, July 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I really hope you can help me. I am a long-term denture wearer, I’m a little sick and tired of it in all honesty and I’m looking for options. I saw an advert recently which mentioned that you can have an upper plate with no pallet attached. Is this true? Do you think this would involve dental implants and if so at what costs would be involved? I’m new to all this, I’ve just really had to make do and put up with it really. I look forward to hearing from you anyway. Thank you.

What Would Work Best For Implant Retained Dentures? 4 Mini Implants Or 2 Regular Ones?

Friday, March 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi there.
I’m 36 and due to an accident I had years ago I already have a full top denture [no retaining implants] and I’ve only got 7 teeth on my lower jaw as most of them are broken, which I’ll pull out to have a full lower denture put in.

The thought of having 2 loose dentures in my mouth gives me the chills and really gets me down so I’ve been saving for an implant retained lower denture for over a year. I finally managed to save enough [£3000] to have the procedure done, but now I’m in a bit a dilemma.

All this time I thought about putting 4 mini implants to secure the lower denture but when I emailed a dentist nearby he said it’s better to have 2 regular implants instead. So I thought about asking a 2nd opinion as this is probably one of the most important thing to me in the last few years.

What do you think? 4 mini implants or 2 regular implants?

Thanks.

I Want To Know How Much A Full Set Of Top Dental Implants Costs?

Monday, December 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I require your help. I want full set top implant supporting dentures but no matter how much I ask I cannot get a straight answer for how much it costs for mini or a standard full top set of supporting implants? Please help me with this as I currently have dentures that do not fit and when I told  my dental practice where I live, he told me to take them and go somewhere else. I can’t eat anything much other than soft food and my quality of life is not so good. I look forward to your reply.

I Have A Loose Back Tooth Which When I Chew Hurts Sometimes. Should I Replace It With Mini Implants?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

I have recently had dentures fitted after a cardiac arrest last year. The bridge was broken and my dentist advised me to have dentures put in. As it was my 5 top teeth, I agreed, and this is okay but I doesn’t quite sit properly. Also using adhesive, I find I choke with it and it I find it very uncomfortable. I did some research and I noticed the mini implant and I need some advice and technical expertise, How much do you think a mini implant would cost for my top dentures? And I also have a loose back tooth, not painful but it can be when I chew sometimes. Can I have it removed if the tooth is okay, and can I have a Nimitz transplant? Thank you, I hope you can help me.

Hello. I am really interested in the option of Mini Dental Implants.
I am 25 years old and I really want to have perfect teeth. My teeth are not currently in great condition. I have had quite a few fillings and one root canal and I am looking at going for another one soon because I have recently suffered an abscess.
Could you advise me on the best course of action? I have transport so I can drive to wherever is needed? My financial situation is stable enough, and I can to afford to pay for quality treatment.
I hope you can help you can help me with this problem.

If I Invested In Implant Supported Dentures Could I Still Play My Saxophone?

Thursday, August 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Patel, I just wondered if you could advise me on something? It looks like my lower teeth cannot be saved. The uppers have already been gone for 4 years, and a recent bout with chemotherapy has advanced the decay in my lowers. The only thing I could possibly afford would be mini-implant supported removable dentures. The upper dentures have already ruined my career as a saxophone player — do you think the solution will allow me to play? When done properly, it shouldn’t put any more pressure on the teeth than chewing nuts, for instance? Can you please advise me, I don’t want my career to be in ruins too, I’m not sure what route to turn down. Thanks in advance.

Can You Get Mini Implants, If So How Much Are They?

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013
Q.

Can you tell me do you do the mini implants , as my mother is 80yrs old, and I would like to know for 4-6 of this mini implants’ how much would they cost? Also since I am assuming that they could be fairly expensive so can I have their cost as a one off and if on finanace how much would it cost per month?
They would be the back teeth of the upper jaw, molars I think. Also if they are cost effective we would think of having more added in the future so it could be beneficial for them to be so. Also I am slightly unfamiliar with them so would like to know about general care duties needed to ensure that they last or that they don’t come out or wear down and stuff you know, for example would they have to be taken out when goes to bed? or can she sleep with them in? and can she brush her teeth as normal without changing anything? Thank you.

Would it be possible to have dentures on mini implants?

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012
Q.

I may need a denture, I have a broken bridge. I would like, if affordable, to have dentures on mini implants. Is this feasable? Why do some dentists not recommend it. I do not like the idea of having to take teeth out overnight. I just wonder why most dentists don’t do mini implants and it will take up to 8 months to complete the procedure for a denture on normal implants. My bridge is on 1 Implant and a tooth a tooth half way between was removed and the bridge replaced temporarily in 2006. My dentist then retired and I have been left with this broken bridge since then. I have missting teeth either side and have been recommended dentures on implants but I have been told they would need to be removed at night. The dentist said that mini implants are not recommended.

My dentist won’t answer my mini implant questions; can you?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011
Q.

Hello Sunita,

I was wondering if I could get mini implants to keep a partial denture in place? I’ve had my upper -UR1 & 2 plus my UL1 & 2 taken out recently and been given a plastic partial denture by my Dentist. Please don’t get me wrong, she a great dentist but she’s not very forthcoming with information when I ask her questions. I don’t know why that is but it’s why I’ve come on here to ask you instead. I need to have as much info as I can take with me on my next visit in 2wks so I can ask the right questions. I had the 4 teeth I mentioned taken out only 2wks ago and my gum is healing up very nicely she said.

I guess the questions I nned answers to are: 1. Is it possible to have mini implants done with a partial denture and what is the best type of denture used when going with mini implants?? I would be very grateful for any info you could give me on this. Price is also very important to me so if you could send me any info on the mini implants and type of partial denture used for my problem then I would be very appreciative indeed.

My 2nd question is: What are the different types of implants? I’ve heard there are a few different types used? Does it depend on how much a client is willing to spend? If that’s the case then I would also like to know how many different types of full implants there are and what each implant would cost if it’s not too much to ask.

I’m really sorry to bore you with my questions but this is something very important to me right now and I really want to get it right. I’ve complately lost all confidence in myself of late and I’m worried I won’t get it back with just a denture that moves about in my mouth. I’m not comfortable with the partial denture unless I can get those Mini Implants in to keep the denture in place longterm. It would mean a lot to me to know and understand everything I need to before going back to my dentist soon. I know I should just asl her more forcefully but it’s not my way. She tends to put me off the subject everytime I get round to asking a question. Honestly! She will not allow me to ask a whole question in her surgery. She takes over as quick as she can and rants on until I’ve forgotten what it was I wanted to say..lol Any helpful info you can send me would be gratefully received on my part. I would be eternally grateful to you..

Thankyou very much,
