Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Q. I have several teeth missing on one side of my lower jaw and the front ones are becomming very loose. is it possible to have these removed and mini implants inserted straight away to stabalise a new lower denture,
A. It is possible, but I personally prefer conventional implants, as they have a better success rate.

What tooth replacement options are there other than dentures?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
Q. I am a 48 year old female with loose front teeth caused by receding gums and being hit in the mouth due to horse riding accidents. I am very self conscious of my smile. Please could you tell me if I have any options other than Dentures and what sort of cost would be involved. I am desperate to have something done and soon because I am terrified they might fall out when on a date. Thank you very much.,
A. Your other options are a bridge or implants. A bridge would normally entail drilling down adjacent teeth where an implant is independent from the adjacent teeth and stimulates the bone. It sounds like you would need a thorough examination and scan to decide whether you have enough bone for implants, if not you may need some bone rebuilding prior to the procedure. Regards Andrew

What would it cost to replace loose teeth?

Monday, March 1st, 2010
Q. I need my three front teeth replacing. They were bridged several years ago but now they keep comming loose, my NHS dentist says he cannot do anymore and I should have a plate fitted. I would prefer to keep my teeth without a plate. How much would it cost, and how long does the treatment take.,
A. The cost really depends on the way the teeth are being replaced i.e implants or bridge. If you would like to book a consultation , we would be able to give a definitive pricing.

Can I get invisalign if two of my teeth feel loose?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q. Hi, I am thinking of having Invisalign treatment, but I have 2 very loose teeth and these teeth are the ones which would need the most adjustment. Is Invisalign still an option or is there another treatment available?,
A. If your teeth are loose then it sounds as though you have a serious periodontal condition. I would recommend you see either a Hygienist or Periodontist before you commence your Invisalign treatment. We have some here at Umbrella Smiles who would be able to assist you.Justin glaisterwww.umbrellasmiles.comph: 0207 612 9810

Is it normal for teeth to feel loose when wearing braces?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q. ever since ive had braces my teeth started to become a little loose. is this normal. my teeth arent very loose but whenevr i bite down my teeth move fowards,
A. During treatment the teeth can feel loose as they have some pressure on them. This settles once the treatment has finished. I would suggest you see your orthodontist as if you are having treatment teeth moving when you bite may be affecting the treatment

I need to fix the shaky front tooth

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q. I seem to have a habbit of pushing my front teeth with my tongue and then pushing them back again and now, i find myself doing it all day without realizing it and now i think one of my front teeth are shaky, it seems to move a bit more now, out of place when i push it and instead of stopping, i do it alot more now to see if it really is shaky or not. im terrified as im only 21. what can i do if they fall out? i also grind my back teeth in my sleep and during the day which is a new thing during the day. what are dental implants? are they screw ins? if my teeth come out could i get them on nhs? in the morning i feel as though if i just push my teeth theyl pop out so i try to avoid doing that 1st thing in the morning. im terrified on dental jags so cant go to dentist, i would go if i could get put to sleep tho, please help

A. Start by forcing yourself to visit 3 different practices that seem friendly to anxious patients.  You can be adamant that you only want an opinion not treatment. ( check prices for assesment before you go )
One of them will feel better and more in tune with you. Then start with some simple treatment to boost your confidence.

What is the best treatment for teeth which are coming out?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q. I have only 8 teeth on the top.I think 3 need coming out,i am really scared of having treatment, what would the best to have done.Thank you

A. If it is the loss of teeth your frightened of then you might wish to consider replacement of the teth with immedaite implants as these will feel the most natural.
If it is the actual extractions then you could consider sedation to help you relax during treatment.

What is the best treatment for gum recession?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q. I have severe gum recession and three front teeth that are loosening, one quite severely.I really find the idea of false teeth repulsive and am really worried. Is there a solution that does not involve having dentures please.Thankyou

A. The best solution is dental implants this will give you back teeth that are permanently fixed in .  You need to get a full assessment done with a cosmetic dentist that does implants.  Your bone levels will also have to be assessed.

How much does it cost to cap a tooth?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q. Hello im due to have my tooth taken out witch id rather have it capped but how much would it cost to cap a tooth its the front and to the left at the top

A. It depends on what is wrong with the tooth. If it needs root treatment and a post before crowning the cost may double. anything from 350 to 1000. you need to know what the chance of success is if you do the work. Rob

My front tooth has lot of pain should I go for root canal?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Q. My front tooth has been having alot of pain and just the other day my tooth has been feelin lose, i went to a dentist and he said that i need a root canal? is that the reason why my tooth has been feelin lose because i need a root canal ? Also i have had a root canal on the other side of the same tooth (left side), now i need one on my right side!

A. The abscess underneath your tooth can loosen your tooth due to swelling around the tooth.  Following root treatment this should disappear and the tooth firm up
