Can a Gap in My Teeth be Reduced by Veneers?

Friday, May 20th, 2016
Q.

I was born without the right lateral tooth and always had a gap between my front teeth. Now I am too old for braces and I had a rear molar removed in the back upper and the two front teeth have shifted over further, so much that the one front tooth is almost in the place that the lateral tooth should be in, so it is set back. I want to do veneers or Lumineers, but I am not sure what can be done. Please help. I went for a consultation and an orthodontist confirmed I am too old to start shifting teeth around but I already knew that. I left that practice because there was no alternative solution given, except root canal on a perfectly healthy tooth to shave down the length. I believe the gap can be lessened by veneers and if not corrected totally.

How Can I Realign Two Lateral Incisors Following Brace Treatment?

Thursday, September 10th, 2015
Q.

Hello, I had braces from the age of 15 until 17, having them taken off at the end of 2012. The results were very good and my teeth were very straight. I wore my retainer and complied for the first year or so and then lost my retainer accidentally. My two lateral incisors started to move back slightly, more on the left side than on the right. I then found my retainer and tried to wear it again to try to move them back in line but the retainers no longer fit. The retainers are gone again and I cannot find them anywhere. I know it is too late to get a replacement seeing as I got my braces taken off nearly 3 years ago. I would like to realign the two incisors as the rest of my teeth are still straight. I can’t imagine I would need any complicated treatment but wanted some advice on what would be the best option. Would veneers be the best or an invisible brace? Or a removable plate? Thank you.

Hi there, when i was 12 i had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now i am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, i am just wondering if the braces how long it would take to open up roughly 4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? This work is taking forever, I just want it finished!! I feel like my whole life is on hold! Can 6 Month Smiles straighten my smile as well as traditional fixed braces?

Friday, March 30th, 2012
Q.

I have recently had a consultation and have been recommended 6 months smile braces. My top lateral incisor is set quite far back and locked behind my lower teeth so I was surprised the shorter treatment time would be suitable expecting perhaps to have teeth removed to make room.

Can 6 month smile treatment apply such force to bring such a stubborn tooth forward?

I guess I am worried because I have had full braces before and some teeth have slipped back into position (thanks in part to my failure to wear my retainer for suffucient time).

Thanks in advance!

Can a small gap between front and lateral tooth be filled?

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011
Q.

Andrew, a hygenist has filed the enamel between my front and lateral tooth through vigarious scraping and so has created a small gap there when there wasn’t one. I know it is not there normally as I have a bonded retainer from orthodontic treatment and my teeth were perfect then. As this small gap is ruining my perfect smile, is there a way that this gap can be bonded with some filling material at all to replace the tooth enamel with the retainer there? The filed gap there now is below the retainer wire so can this be bypassed and bonded?

I didn’t wear my retainer and now my left lateral incisor has rotated back – what can I do?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi,

I had orthodontic braces taken out about 3 years ago and I didnt wear my dentures because they were really uncomfortable. Most of my teeth have remained straight but left lateral incisor has rotated back.

Will wearing my retainers now correct the rotation? What else can I do to correct it?

Approximately how much would it cost to have 3, possibly four implants to replace my front teeth?

Friday, December 3rd, 2010
Q.

Hello Doctor Caplan, 3 years ago I knocked out my front right central incisor. The tooth was replaced at A’n’E but it failed to re-graft. Shortly afterward my 2 central incisors and left lateral incisor have had root canal treatment which has worked well up until now although the teeth are discoloring and are not straight. I am considering having 3 maybe 4 implants to replace my front teeth. Can you offer me a ball park figure on the cost of this treatment? I understand the need to take a closer look before quoting an accurate price but I just want an estimate.

Thanks
