Can you tell me if surgery has led to nerve damage?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
hi. i recently underwent surgery for the removal of a brain tumour (right side). When i awoke from surgery i noticed limited movement to one side of my jaw, movement from right to left. Also, my top and bottom teeth do not meet together on the right side. I cant open my mouth as wide as i use to. Eating solid food has become very difficult as my upper and lower teeth are bashing together on my left side. My main priority is ensuring i recover fully from the brain surgery. I realise that i may have undergone some nerve damage however it really feels like my jaw could have been knocked, perhaps during surgery, and i am wonderering whether it is possible to check and rectify this? I would be most grateful for your opinion. I am a 37 yr old healthy, fit male. Kind regards.,

Is surgery the only option for my overbite

Monday, December 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 21 and from Norfolk. I have just been and had a consultation about an over bite i have believing that it was sticky out teeth, turns out that it is not my teeth but my lower jaw :-( he said that i would have to have surgery if i wanted it corrected and that braces just wouldnt do much at all. he said that my overbite was 11mm and that the surgery would involve moving my lower jaw forward and probably my upper jaw back slightly. I am sure he said that this is available on nhs. i am now wondering if i heard correctly does this sound correct? Thanks

I have particles getting stuck between two crowns, what can be done?

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr, I had two crowns put next to eachother on the lower jaw at the far back a year ago. While I was waiting with temporary ones they came out a few times and so I had to have them re-done and on the last occasion there were a couple of days with nothing on them. Ever since I always get meat trapped between the two crowns which can only be removed by flossing. This is awkward if I am out and so I have to have a vegetarian option or be careful to chew on one side only as it often feels uncomfortable with the meat stuck. My dentist says that nothing can be done and that he has the same problem. Is this correct? The original tooth was badly broken.

Need the cause and solution for my overbite issue?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
Dear Experts, I have had 2 front teeth replaced by crowns and implants as a result of an accident. Unfortunately there are some discoloring at the top of the crowns where it meet the gumline which is unsightly. What can be done to rectify this? Also, it may sound silly, but it feels as if my teeth are too short and the bite is all wrong. My jaw and jaw muscles gets really sore when I close my mouth, trying to rest the top and bottom jaw on each other. So as a result, trying to compensate for the pain, I try and rest it on the front teeth. Unfortunately, then it creates an uncomfortable, clenching overbite. It is a very uncomfortable and painful situation and I would appreciate advice on how to correct this.

Is bridge treatment the answer for my jaw gap?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
I have a gap on my bottom jaw. The 2nd tooth never grew when I was growing up. My dentist says I could have a bridge but I am reluctant to have good teeth either side filed down. The gap is not very big but is annoying and the tooth from the upper jaw is growing downwards to fill the gap. Would an implant work? I had an implant for a bigger missing tooth on the uppper jaw which is great but this gap is smaller.

Cost for reconstructing my teeth following periodontal disease

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
I am about to start looking for a dentist to do some reconstructive work on my teeth. I am about to lose many teeth due to genetic periodontitis. I am willing to have some existing teeth pulled if it makes the procedure easier – I do not hold out much hope for most of them. My preferred option would be bridges secured by implants, if possible. Can you advise me of the options I may have and the cost implications of same.
