I lost a lower front tooth a bit back after a root canal treatment went bad. I had a dental implant, I was told, to preserve the integrity of the adjacent teeth. A larger than usual implant was used, I was told, as perhaps I had kept the tooth in question for too long. The implant finally healed. The crown on it is suboptimal, really looks little like my natural teeth. I am now having the gum receed around the implant and on each of the adjacent teeth. A periodontist told me it’s just a difficult situation but there’s nothing to be done. The appearance is sort of third worldly. Feel as if I have been really mislead about the entire implant situation. Any advice? Thank you.

                                Hi,
I have a failing bridge involving UR1,2 & 3. UR3 needs an extraction UrR1 a root canal. I have been advised by 2 dentists that I should have an implant on UR3 with a cantilever bridge to replace my missing 2, with a seperate crown on UR1( the Dr said a large implant here will easily hold 2 teeth.
Another clinic I visited recommended 2 implants on ur3 and 2. They wont do a cantilever bridge option they believe the physics/mechanics of it i.e forces of eating etc dont gaurantee it to last. I do have quite a heavy bite with some wear on my bottom teeth and this concerns me that it may cause too much pressure on cantilever option. Also would a larger than normal/necessary implant be needed to hold 2 teeth here? is it better to use 2 smaller ones to hold teeth separately. also I have a bridge on my left side involving same 3 teeth, would the two implants option make the other fitted bridge side look odd or not really an issue?. I really dont know what would be best, both clinics say their options would look better cosmetically. Help!!!

Hi, I have just discovered this site. I am about to go to Budapest (in 3 weeks) to undergo 10 extractions (currently under bridges that became loose from chewing nicorette gum – gave up the disgusting cigarette habit two years ago, but recently chewed a few gums and hence the loose 10 and 4 element bridges done 12 years ago). I will have 14 implants placed as well as 2 x sinus bovine bone grafts. I have been given a time frame of 3 days to do this. Seems very short to me. What do you think? Also, the clinic I will attend in Budapest does not have video-assisted implantation technology? Should I proceed? It’s only since I discovered this and other sites this weekend that I am really discovering the pros/cons/risks of implants. I’m worried that without video-assisted implantation methodoly and MRI that the result could be nerve disturbance or penetration of the sinus cavity. The clinic I will be attending has many specialists, both in implantology, oral surgery, ENT, etc. Do you think I should ask for a more spread out treatment. I am used to pain, as I am in my fifties and had my first bridge at 21. The ones I have now are 12 years old. Many thanks for your reply should you send me one. I would greatly appreciate it.,
