Q. Hi Dr Moore,I have had bad breath for a long time now but I do brush and the smell is still there.do you know how I can get rid of this once and for all I also have some green stains on the bottom of my teeth on the inside. how do I get rid of this.
A. It sounds like you need to see a dentist and Hygienist to improve the condition of the gums. The green stains are plaque and bacteria build up that have become established over the years and won’t come off with brushing alone.

Q. I just came back from a check-up at my dentist and I have been told that I have periodontal disease. I wanted to know from you what is about the range in price that it would cost for treament? I do have insurance, but I am trying to figure out if this office is overcharging for the treatment. I will have the treatment done but it might not be by that office. Second question I had is that my dentist wants to put 4 crowns across my front teeth and I wanted to know which kind of crowns is good not the ones that are most expensive on me? For example they gave me a price of $4,480.00 for all four crowns and I would like to know if this is a crazy price or a normal one?
A. periodontal treatment is difficult to cost but starting with the basics, ask how much time is being allocated and with who. For example 4x 30 mins with a hygeinist will have a different fee to 2 1 hour treatments with a periodontist specialist dentist. #est crowns can depend on the functional needs of the case but all ceramic crowns with a Zirconia core are good in most situations, try to shop around locally for hourly rates and zirconia crowns to compare prices.

Q. I have a tooth which feels loose what can i do? i dont want to lose it?
A. You may have to lose it if there is no bone surrounding the tooth. Se your dentist to have the tooth Xrayed to assess the bone levels and to see if gum treatment is possible

Q. Hi, Im 14 and have braces. Im very worried about the size of my gums. I have had my braces for a year and 8 months. My teeth are fine but I have very bulbus gums. They are progressing under my wire and are puffy. But they are normal colored. My orthodontists have told me to to brush in circles against the gums (from the top and bottom) and up into them. In the past I have been able to make them go down a little bit, but then they end up flaring up again. I have been trying again recently and Im not having any luck this time. Im worried this is permanent. Im also worried I’ll have to have surgery on my gums, which I dont want. Will my gums go down when my braces come off or not? Thanks
A. They will but it sounds like you need to see a hygienist and clean your teeth better

Q. Hi Can you tell me please where I can buy the gel for gums that hardens to protect my gums and lips when I use my home kit please ?
A. That gel is only for in-surgery bleraching when 40% hydogen peroxide is used. For homw bleaching the gel is usually 16% carbamide peroxide – this breaks down to about 5% hydrogen peroxide which is safe to use without gum protection

Q. Hello! So here’s the deal: I am getting my braces off in about 2years,and I already have stains. I need to get them off like pronto before my mom notices. And I don’t have time to go see a specialist without her knowing. And I only have like $30. What should I use to get rid of them?
A.
Probably you need to see a hygienist – if you manage to do this you should stop what ever is causing the staining, such as smoking, coffee drinking etc

Q. I had an infection in my impacted wisdom tooth lower left side. I have been give antibiotics for 7 days which I finished 5 days ago. When I rub my gum with my finger it still has the same unpleasant smell as before albeit milder. I was told to use Corsodyl on it which I am doing. I am almost 60 years old, there is no pain, but……….before taking the antibiotics I developed a swelling under my arm, the doctor said it was my gland but didn’t seem too worried and said “keep an eye on it”. Whilst taking the antibiotics the swelling reduced in size to about a third, but now I think it is getting a little larger although hard to tell. Could this swelling be connected to the tooth? The swelling is on the opposite side.
A. Yes it could be and you may have a dry socket requiring more antibiotics or a dressing

Q. I have a permanent throbbing sensation in my top and bottom front teeth and gums. They are also very sensitive. I have noticed also a funny taste in my mouth and my breath has become quite strong. Can you advise please?
A. I think your gums will need treatment. Please go to your dentist for a full examination with a view to gum treatment with a Periodontist or Hygienist.

A.
I would first have a hygienist visit and speak to your dentist about teeth whitening and let him know that the filling he placed on your tooth is not a great colour and you are not ahppy with the over shape and he should correct that for you.

Q. Hello, I have recently noticed that one of my front incisors is a little loose. There isn’t any pain and so I was wondering if you have any advice on how to fix this as I don’t want it to get any worse. Thankyou.
A. Teeth generally loosen through unstable gums/.gum disease. With vigorous home cleaning routines and regular hygiene visits- the gum may tighten around the tooth- but if too much bone is lost around the tooth, then it will eventually fall out. A simple xray can determine the level of bone and a treatment plan can be drawn up from this.

Q. why do i have a rotten smell coming from my dental bridge and how do i disfuss it until i can make it to my dentist. People seems to cover there face when i talk and the whole room stinks when i open my mouth ..Please help me i am in desperate need also my bridge is loose on one side not the other..Have u ever heard of that..
A. There could be some decay under the bridge you could also be getting food and plaque trapped between your teeth which is causeing the smell. You need to see your dentist and dental hygienist so you can keep your teeth cleaner.

Q. how do you clean stained capped teeth
A. Crowns often don’t stain up like regaular teeth. However, tobacco stains are the main culprit.
Visit your dentist and see if the hygienist can remove any of these stains. They can often be polished away with a more abrasive polishing paste.

My major problem is my gums are now receding around these teeth…i go to the hygienist regulary but i’m really worried about losing these teeth..i can feel they are a little wobberly and wondered if there was anything i could do to possibly help the gums grow back?
A. the gums won’t grow back but you could straighten them to help you and the hygienist keep them clean??

Q. Hi, i have been having deep cleaning every 3 months for the past 18 months, due to gum desease, the last time i went, i left the practice my bottom front teeth felt funny, what has happened is they have moved i can feel the ridge behind them and i cant stop grinding and running my tonge across them its driving me nuts, i have been back sevral times for them to file the back but to no avail, could you please, advise me kind regards
A. It is impossible to know what is happening here without seeing your teeth, it could feel rough where they removed tartar. if the teeth are loose as a result of the gum disease then the tooth could have moved and is now irritating your tongue.

Q. I have sore swollen gum at the front bottom. My tooth is begining to feel loose. Will i loose this tooth or is it reparable with treatment? My gums have receded too. Any advise please. Thankyou.
A. It depends on how loose it is. Ask your dentist for advice, you might be able to save the tooth with gum treatment and regular maintenance at home and by your Hygienist
