Can anything be done about an implant treatment gone wrong?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010
Q.
I have nearly finished treatment for an implant. However the way my gum was cut to place the implant means I have a v shaped gap in my gum, so the crown will not follow my normal gum line – the first one they tried had pink coloured porcelain at the top, (about 1/2 cm) which didn’t match my gum! It looks terrible. Can anything be done about this?,

What treatment can I have as I have lost most of my gum line?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
I have lost most of my gum line due to thirty years of wearing dentures. I am 55 and my jawline looks 65. My dentist doesn’t think he can even make replacement dentures and seems uninterested. Is there any help for? I have a very hard time chewing anything. If there is surgery for this, what does it consist of? We have medical and dental insurance but i don’t know if it will cover this. Any information is appreciated.,

What treatment should I get for tooth that has darkened?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Glaister. I am desperate for some professional help with my teeth. I would say my general dental appearence is good, however I have a dead single tooth at the upper front. This tooth was banged a few years back and as a result the nerve has shrunk up into my gum. When tested at the dentist I had a cold compression test and did not feel anything. My question is this, at present the tooth is discloured, (a yellow tinge)and due to increased brushing there is a dark mark at the top of my gum line. This hugely affects my confidence and will to smile. I have considered whitening treatments but am worried that because the tooth is dead and more discoloured it will stand out more, I have thought about veneers and other dental surgery but get told different things each time. what would you suggest, im really upset and need some honest, professional advice and direction.,

Is ooze coming from sinus on gums normal?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
I have a dental implant which was fitted about two years ago. All was well until about a month and a half ago when I noticed that the gum around the implant was becoming increasingly sore. I saw my dentist who referred me to a dental surgeon (the surgeon who fitted the implant no longer works at the practise). I have a “sinus” on the gum which is constantly oozing in to my mouth and that part of the gum often throbs. I have been advised to scrub the sinus on the gum with cordysl gel and to take mouth washes. Is this normal? The surgeon reckons it is improving and antibiotics are not allowed.,

What is best option for gum coming down over teeth?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
i have a gap between my two front teeth and the gum has come down a bit over the years between my teeth and the two teeth either side of my two front ones are a lot smaller can i get the gum lifted or lased up more so that when i have veneered it will close the gap and the gum wont prevent this and the smaller teeth can be bigger to componsate the two veneered front ones.,

I cant have braces as my roots are too small what are the alternatives?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am interested in finding out how i can get teeth straightening done, when i was in high school i was told i cannot have braces as my roots are too small, i am 27 years old now and would really like to know what alternatives there are for me, i have been researching on dentist treatments abroad as they appear to be more cost effective, I also have a problem with my gums, they were different shapes and sized before, I have visited my local dentist about this and the gums have been controlled but the difference in their size remains. If i am honest i am not keen on veneers but perhaps other methods that do not take so long. I am planning on getting married mid 2010 and i hate my smile, i really want some advice on sorting out my gums and teeth sooner rather then later. I hope you can help. Thank you
