Hello – why is it recommended to wait 3-6 months after extraction for a bridge to be fitted? Also what are the consequences of waiting say just 2 months?

Q.
I have a large gap between my front teeth. My dentist has told me this is due to my gums shrinking. Im 54 a smoker, the size of the gap looks like a tooth is missing. She doesnt think veneers are suitable as this will not cover the gap. What procedure would be advisable.,

Would it be possible to remove my healthy remaining front tooth and get a bridge?

Monday, August 9th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I have already had cosmetic surgery to help straighten my teeth, one front tooth was knocked out and then I had the three remaining front teeth shaped down for a crown, however I still am very unhappy with the way I look (I have an 8-10mm overbite, partly due to the fact my lower jaw needs to be brought forward) what I would like to know is, even though I know dentists don’t like doing it, if it would be possible to remove the remaining front tooth (as it’s the front tooth that’s causing the problem) & then replace this with a straighter bridge?,

I have about 2mm – 5mm of gum recession on most of the teeth advice

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Q.
I am a fit and healthy 22 year old non smoker on Limecycline for acne. My dentist and periodentist say i have generalised recession and no periodental disease, i have a thin gum biotype and have flares on my canines as well as many other teeth. What do you think the best treatment option is for me as the recession is about 2mm – 5mm from most of the teeth and due to staining looks more prominent?

Need to fix my bite and get gum graft, please suggest.

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
I am nearly coming to the end of invisalign treatment and have found that my top front teeth have gone forward and caused me to have a bit of an overbite. Also my lower left canine gum has receded, which must be due to brushing too hard as I don’t have gum disease. Will invisalign refinements be able to push my front teeth back a bit? or is there any other treatment that can fix my bite? Where can I go to get a gum graft, as it is causing me a lot of anguish.

Can I gum disease be stopped from spreading further without teeth loss?

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am terribly worried. I am 52 and when I went for a routine 6 month check up the other day, I was told by my dentist that I have gum desease. she took an x ray and a lot of the bone on my lower gumms has eroded away. I am devastated! I have always looked after my teeth and never had a dentist show any real concern. I was told about 4 years ago that I had some slight pocketing but to keep flossing etc which I do daily and I have had my teeth de-scaled for years now. I have now been refered to a dental hygienist. Will I lose all my teeth? I am really scared and can’t sleep with worry. The thought of having false teeth terrifies me. Can this be reversed or even stopped in it’s tracks? I will do anything to remedy it. Please can you help?

Confused as I cannot find a reason for my smelly and rotting teeth.

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
I had a veneer on my lateral incisor around 4 years ago. Last year I noticed that the tooth was discoloured around the gum line and had a bad smell/taste and feeling of pressure – never pain. After several courses of antibotics my Dentist performed root treatment, twice as it was unsuccessful the first time. My tooth still smells and tastes bad and my dentist is baffled – any ideas? I think perhaps there is a gap between the veneer and my tooth and that the front shell of my tooth is rotting, could that be the case – is there anything can be done? Thanks
