I am 65 years old. Recently I noticed that my gums are receding and also that my top left hand gums are turning blue. Is there anything I can do about this? It’s not painful. I visited my dentist and he says I should monitor it. If it gets worse then he will send me to a specialist. But I am concerned that it might turn into cancer. I did have crowns fitted quite awhile ago and they are slightly loose. Could that be causing this? Please advise. Thank you so much.

What Is Causing My Gums to Recede and Turn Blue?
Thursday, June 16th, 2016Is There Supposed to be a Gap Between a Dental Crown and the Gum?
Friday, April 29th, 2016Hello.
I hope your day is going well.
I am writing to you to find out if the gap between the dental crown and the gum is a side effect of having a crown fitted. I had been treated with one crown, some time ago and realised that it isn’t fitted right. I am worried that food may get behind the crown and so cause the decay process.
I find it hard to believe that this is something happening frequently, can’t believe it is something normal.
Thank you very much for your time.
Should I Use an Oral Irrigation System?
Thursday, August 20th, 2015I have had several crowns in for 7 years, and am in the process of having 3 implants where I had a bridge.
I am always having to use inter-dental brushes and floss, but don’t seem to be able to get all the debris out from between my teeth. My gums are healthy but have started to shrink away from my crowns a little. Would it be safe to use one of the recommended oral irrigation systems, or would it make my gums recede more?
Can I Get All My Teeth Replaced?
Wednesday, May 27th, 2015I want all my teeth replaced. I have shrinkage of the gums and feel the teeth I have will only get worse if they stay in. I have not been out the house in 2 years because of my teeth but I can’t afford the prices, any advice please? I don’t want to be house bound and would love to enjoy time with my grandkids. I’m only just 40 and sometimes I feel suicidal because of my teeth or feel like taking them out myself. I have a couple snapped off, some have big holes and some are split from top to bottom. I’m now starting to get pains in my bottom gum more than my top. My dentist is an NHS one and they don’t seem to care unless you are paying for treatment.
My Gums Shrank Considerably And Now I Look 5 Years Older. Can Anything Be Done To Bring Back My Youthful Appearance?
Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 Hello Dr Hughes. I am a young looking 65 year old.
My dentist misjudged my gums while
preparing them for 8 span bridge he was having made for me. He removed too much and as a result I needed to have a crown lengthening. My gums
shrank considerably after I was healed.
I now look at least 5 years older than I
did before the surgery. Can anything be done to bring back my youthful
appearance? Should I reporting him
to the peer review board? Thank you. I look forward to your reply.

Can you please advise me on what I can do thank you very much. I think I’d need dental implants to fix these issues is that right.
