Need the cause and solution for my overbite issue?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
Dear Experts, I have had 2 front teeth replaced by crowns and implants as a result of an accident. Unfortunately there are some discoloring at the top of the crowns where it meet the gumline which is unsightly. What can be done to rectify this? Also, it may sound silly, but it feels as if my teeth are too short and the bite is all wrong. My jaw and jaw muscles gets really sore when I close my mouth, trying to rest the top and bottom jaw on each other. So as a result, trying to compensate for the pain, I try and rest it on the front teeth. Unfortunately, then it creates an uncomfortable, clenching overbite. It is a very uncomfortable and painful situation and I would appreciate advice on how to correct this.

Would like to know the cause of my discoloured teeth?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I am 50 years old and I had braces fitted to my upper teeth just over two & half months ago. Since having the brace fitted I have noticed that one of my front teeth is going grey at the top near the gum. What is the cause of this? Can I do anything to stop it or can it be treated once the braces come off?

Does implants not fix a denture with bone loss issues?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I am due to begin work for a full upper denture on 17/11 due to the loss of all byt 4 of my upper teeth. This was due to gum disease causing bone loss, passed down from my parents! My dentist tells me that an implant to fix a denture in would not stay put due to bone loss? Is this correct? Glad I found this site, and someone to answer my question, thank you!

Dentures fitted causing pain in the gums

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
Hello I had ValPlast dentures fitted and got a pain in the upper gums on wearing them. I persevered before 4 months before I had a tooth pulled from that side and thought it might be the reason and it would get better over time. Now the other side hurts as well. Sometimes one side hurts and I can chew on the other and another time the other side hurts. I thought it might be cavitations? I recently did a heavy metal detox. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Dental treatments to fix gum recession issues

Monday, November 23rd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Patel Despite regularly attending my dentist and hygenist for twenty years I have now been told that gum recession on two lower front teeth is now so bad that I am not a candidate for gum grafting. As you may appreciate I am very annoyed with my dentist for not being more proactive over my recession issues given that I raised this with him from day one of attending all those years ago. On the positive side, radiographs show a substantial amount of bone remaining and I have no mobility whatsoever. My questions are these: Even with such severe gum recession would it be possible to place implants if required in the future? Are there any techniques for gum to be ‘built-up’ to accommodate implants after tooth extraction? By the way the (very) little tissue that remains is healthy and recession has been caused apparently by crowding, thin tissue-type.

I feel some funny clicky popping feeling under my gums plz advice

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr, For the past couple of months (even in between Dentist visits) I have a feeling on my gums. Its a funny clicky, popping feeling as if air was getting under a layer of my gum and then requires for me to press down to pop it away. I hope I’m explaining myself right. I feel so frustrated since I do a lot of public speaking and I’m so afraid of loosing my teeth. My husband calls me paranoid, but what do you think I’m experiencing. At times the feeling last days. Sometimes its a little painful, mostly uncomfortable but mostly frustrating. One dentist ranked out gum disease. I brush three times a day and after i brush the feeling subsides for a while until I eat, chew gum the noise comes back. I even feel it behind my two front teeth’s upper gum. HELP!

My gums have receded to the extent would lumineers be the way forward?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
Q.
I have 15 year old veneers on 8 teeth and my gums have receded to the extent that the old scraped down teeth is now visible behind the veneers and is ugly and extremely sensitive. Unfortunately I had one replaced by my dentist last year and it looks even worse, he had to shave half of it away so I could close my teeth, not a great job, and I am terrified of the dentist!! Would lumineers be the way forward for me, and how expensive are they? Thank you :)
