Q. Is it possible to get lumineers to cover a gap between two front teeth without the two front teeth looking large?,

A. No &#8211; they will always look large unless you have multiple veneers to distribute the excessive space amongst as many teeth as possible

<div class="bubbleBottomstrGreen"><strong>Q.</strong> Hi Dr Solanki I unfortunately suffer from a lot of overcrowding and as such both of my top incisor teeth stick out . I waited and waited for my dentist to take action when I was younger but he kept on putting off orthodontic work as my milk teeth took so long to fall out. We eventually moved to a different area where we couldn&#8217;t get a dentist. As a result I never got the braces I desperately wanted. I am now at a stage where I have summoned up the courage to get braces, a process which I know will be costly as I am now in my mid twenties. I still have a milk top right canine tooth and am wondering if this will have to be removed prior to braces being fitted? If so, will I have to wait until a new tooth grows in before braces can be fitted? The thought of wearing braces as an adult fills me with dread but the prospect of having a gap prior to braces is even worse. Is there any way this obvious gap could be covered up? Many thanks in advance for your help.,</div>
</div>
<div class="bubble">
<div class="bubbleTop"></div>
<div class="bubbleBottomLeft"><strong>A.</strong> Hi there, as you still have the upper canine baby tooth present, then it is unlikely that it will come through at your age. The permanent tooth may not have formed when you were younger or it may have drifted to another area. A panoral xray will show this in detail and confirm wether you have this tooth or not. You will need to know this before any treatment is done- as it will determine what options you have. If the baby tooth comes out, then you will be left with a gap. Braces these days tend to work relatively quickly in comparison to what they used to be like. You need to discuss all of your options with the dentist. I hope this has helped and well done for plucking up the courage. Don&#8217;t foregt that wearing braces when you are an adult isn&#8217;t such a bad thing. THere are many orthodontic applinaces that are very discreet. Good luck</div>

<div class="bubbleTop"></div>
<div class="bubbleBottomLeft"><strong>A.</strong> Hi there. If he is an experienced cosmetic dentist then he will be more than qualified to carry out the treatment. There are several skill levels required for such treatment- and there are also many materials that are bad/good quality. If you have any doubts, then perhaps ask to see some before/after pictures of similar cases- as a good cosmetic dentist keeps these records on his profile. The only thing that you should consider is a more long term option. Perhaps porcelain veneers would be a better option for you. Porcelain &#8211; provided that a good technician has made them, can look great. They will not stain over time like composite bonding- and are less likely to fracture/chip. Just a thought. You need to consider all your options and be 100% sure that this treatment is right for you. Alternatively, you could opt to have braces to close the gaps.</div>

<div class="bubbleBottomstrGreen"><strong>Q.</strong> I had a large gap between my two front teeth and my eye teeth are missing. I had two braces &#8211; the first one didn&#8217;t work at all &#8211; they sprung back before the retainer could be fitted and after the second one I had a wire put on to the back of them to keep them together. But the side teeth moved to create two gaps either side and the front ones began to cross. I then opted for four crowns to fill the gaps but in order to do this they are so big I look awful &#8211; like a horse and have no confidence. And I STILL have a gap in the front as even the crowns couldn&#8217;t stop them moving apart. I cannot see the way forward: If I have smaller crowns it won&#8217;t fill the gaps. Would implants work &#8211; can they only be placed where the teeth were before so would still have to be big? I&#8217;m 27 and have spent all my life dreading opening my mouth to talk to people or smile. What, if anything can be done? Thanks,</div>

<div class="bubbleBottomLeft"><strong>A.</strong> It sounds as though you are in real need of good cosmetic dentistry. &nbsp;If your gap keeps opening up it will be caused by your bite and the shape of the back of the crowns. &nbsp;You may need your teeth splinted together to stop the gaps opening up. &nbsp;You definitely sound as though you need your bite and gum health carefully assessed to diagnose why your teeth keep separating. &nbsp;I would love to help you &#8211; please contact my surgery for a free consultation.</div>
