How can i get root canal treatment for cheap?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Q. Hello, i would like to ask about how i can get 2 root canals done on the NHS my previous dentist didnt do anything. He put a gold inlay in one of the teeth which i believe really needed a root canal and in the end i got an absess. I am a single mother of two children so where can i get these two teeth root canaled as i cannot afford the private fees and i would not be accepted for any loan, i am only 21 and the teeth are in my smile line so i wouldnt want to lose these teeth. Any advise much appreciated.

A. If teeth require root canal treatment the NHS must treat you.

Q. Hello! So here’s the deal: I am getting my braces off in about 2years,and I already have stains. I need to get them off like pronto before my mom notices. And I don’t have time to go see a specialist without her knowing. And I only have like $30. What should I use to get rid of them?

Can u advice me on subsidized cosmetic treatment?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Q. Hi Julian i need some advice i haven’t been to a dentist since i was in my early teens i’m now 29, My teeth are really bad and have been since a kid and have affected my confidence greatly i’m also terrified of the dentist since i was given gas as a kid and took a bad reaction to it. I know i have to do something with my teeth as they are only going to get worse and i need my confidence back as it holds me back, my fear is if i need cosmetic treatment and the cost i wouldn’t be able to afford the treatment as my teeth are that bad. Is there any instances where treatment done subsidised i really want to avoid false teeth. Any advice on what to do would be great thanks.

A. My best advice is to find a dentist near you who can offer a free consultation to discuss your trreatment options and costs

Financial packages for smile makeovers using crown lengthening

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Q. I have small teeth and when I smile you can see quite a lot of gum. I would like big white teeth and heard that there was a procedure that could scale gums back. Is this true? Also, could I have this treatment in conjunction with having veneers fitted and overall whitening to create that ‘hollywood’ smile look? How much should I expect to pay and are finance packages in usually place if I am unable to pay the full amount up front?

A. Within my practice this is a common problem.  The treatment involves crown lengthening( raising the gum) and veneers to give you that beautiful smile that you want.  The cost of this treatment is usually in the region of £12000.00 and we do have finance packages available to help you spred payments.  Come to my practice for a free consultation.  I look forward to meeting you.

I want to know more about teeth whitening without spending lots of money. Please advice.

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Q. I have noticed that my teeth are very yellow recently and I would like to know more about teeth whietning. I have heard that some teeth don’t benefit from whitening and I would like to know if there is a way to tell without spending lots of money?

A. Sensitive teeth, heavily filled or crwoned teeth need to be treated differently. Grey shades tend to be slower.

I am 24yrs old my upper tooth are falling and I feel ashamed would dentures look natural?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Q. i am 24yrs old and my upper teeth are all falling out one by one what should i do every dentist i see tell me to get implants but they cost to much.how about dentures will they look natural i am ashame i dont even smile any more can you please help me…..

A. It must be awful for you to be experiencing this….but be aware that there ARE options regarding your teeth. You need not suffer.
As you are still only young and hopefully have many years ahead of you…….the best long term option would be implants- as you have been told in the past. They are the next best thing to your real teeth- and are fixed into your mouth. You are right, however that it is a costly form of treatment. Please do not dismiss the idea straight away. Alot of dental practices offer financial solutions- such as 0% finance. It is not something to go into lightly, but I do advise that you have a consultation regarding your teeth. I would be more than happy to see you myself, or alternatively, I could recommend some good dentists in your area.

On the subject of dentures, there is an art to making them look natural. There are some great denture lab technicians that can construct works of art,- and it IS an option.

In the meantime, I would stress that you have regular dental visits and hygiene visits to stabilise the condition of your remaining teeth.

My dentist says i cant have braces for a gap between my teeth

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Q. Iam a 20year old girl and since i was a child i had a gap in between my teeth, it didn’t bother me but as i got older the gap started to widen more, i went to the dentist and i asked if i could get braces but i was told i cant, i would like to know if i can get braces to help my gap in my teeth,

A. THe NHS has strict rules on what is covered by NHS tratment. It is not likely that you would qualify from the brief description given. However you should be able to have orthodontic treatment privately, there is no age limit. The costs might be £2000-4000 you would need an exam by an orthodontist.

Alternatives
cosmetic bonding of tooth coloured filling ( cost a few hundred)
Veneers costs about 400-600 per veneer generally at least 2 maybe 6 veneers needed.

Other
investigate the widening,  establish stability of the spaces from now on

I fell and knocked my teeth out ive had infection and bone loss

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Q. When I was young I fell and knocked my 2 front teeth as a result I had an operation and the root of one of the teeth was removed. A few years later I has the tooth crowned and not long after I got an infection in the roof of my mouth. An x-ray showed that this infection was going right from the crown up into the palet of my mouth, the specialist told me I need ot have an operation to remove the infection but I have had bone removed during my first operation which I was not aware of and there is a 50/50 chance I could lose the tooth during or not longer after the operation. What would be my best option if I do lose the tooth? Would a dental implant be suitable? And whatever the necessary treatment can you give me an idea of the price I would be looking at?

A. If I understand it correctly you have one tooth completely missing and one root just about surviving.

The points I notice here are the past history of trauma, infection and surgical bone removal. It is probable that the lifetime chances of the remaining tooth surviving are risky.

An implant will need some healthy bone to anchor it and the past trauma/infection/surgery will have reduced the available bone. You would need to check this out with a thorough clinical exam maybe a CT jaw scan. One implant costs around £2000 -2500 including the crown on top ( You will be able to find a range of practices within this bracket and this figure is from start to finish ) One implant carrying two crowns around £3000-3500 two implants with single crowns £4000-5000. If you don’t have enough bone, you may need a bone graft which has a very variable cost. Bridges, Adhesive bridges, & dentures would be among the alternatives

I hope this helps

My dentist says I need a full mouth reconstruction which I cannot afford

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Q. I have 7 old crowns and all my teeth are filled. My dentist has said my back teeth are breaking away and my gums are in bad shape. I am currently going to have root cleaning treatment as well as regular visits in between to the hygienist. I desperately want my crowns replaced. Is there anything that will prevent me from having cerec, my other dentist told me I need a full month construction for 30k. Which I cant afford, but would like to replace my cronws. any suggestions.

A. sometimes one of your options is a full mouth reconstruction, however if this is not affordable then other options are available especially if your conscious of your smile. the best thing would be to seek out some other cosmetic dentists in your local area and have a few consultations to make a decision on what your best options are. hope this is helpful. many practices offer free consultations so this exercise would only cost you your time. if you let me know where in the uk you live i would be more than happy to recommend a cosmetic dentist in your area.
