Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Q. I have been receiving treatment to have an implant fitted to a missing tooth. Each time I see the dentist the cost goes up. Would it be possible to come to your practice for a check up and estimate of the cost? How much will the visit cost me?

A. Hi, I would be very happy to take a look for you. A detailed consultation and x-rays costs £90. This will include a written treatment plan with all the costs involved. These costs will not change once we decide what you need to be done so you will know exactly what to expect with regard to payment and the treatment required.

Scared to visit dentist for my discoloured rotting teeth

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Q. Hello, I have a front tooth that is rotting, it has turned black and does not look nice, I know I need the dentist but I have not had any good experiences with the dentist hence why I’ve put it off for so long, I know I have to go sooner rather than later but I’m worried about what they will do with the tooth in question, will they take it out or can they repair it?

A.

You need the check up before you can get down to details. The good thing is that you dont have to have anything done at the first visit , just decide on some likely options.

What is the treatment for my teeth with gum disease

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Q. I am 59 years old. i have lost all of my back teeth due to gum disease. The last of the teeth were removed about two years ago. Since then, due to constantly chewing with my front teeth i am now having problems with them. I have tried a National health service denture but could not get used to it. What treatment would you recommend to replace my back teeth ? and to save my front teeth ?

A. Thanks for your questions, if you are unable to cope with a removable denture, I would suggest that you consider implants. These can be used to stabilise a denture or to support fixed teeth. I would recommend that you attend a consultation with an implant dentist, many of which offer free initial consultations, at which you would be able to discuss the process and make an informed choice based on the facts without any financial commitments. I hope this helps.
Many thanks

Could you plz suggest some options to fund my dental treatment?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Q. hello sir Dr.Solanki, got 2thoot missing and 1front thoot in bad cond.wish to fix them asap, but havnt got all the money,so want to ask if ist possible pay any deposit, then pay monthly?i com from cz,live here from 2005,have ni number, bank acc.reference from my provident loans.thank you very much for replay.

A. Thanks for your enquiry, at a lot of practices, it is possible to apply for finance to spread the cost of your treatment. At many practices this can even be interest free, as you have been resident in the United Kingdom for more than three years, you should be able to make an application. I would expect you to have to provide both a proof of address and a proof of signtaure but I foresee no problems in qualifying to make an application. I hope this helps. Many Thanks.

Can I hv aligners for my bottom teeth Plz advice

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Q. Hi! i would appreciate your guidance. My bottom teeth have moved over thelast two years,i believe due to me biting down on my back teeth when i am stressed and at the time i went through a personal trauma. I have been to see one harley street authordontist who recomended invisalign. It was completely out of my budget. I have noticed that it has affected my smile,i have a big smile and haave no problem with my confidence but i am growing increasingly upset by my teeth, especially seeing perfectly straight teeth in photos only two years previous. I have just been researching veneers, although i would not like my own teeth removed or ground down to have them. This evening i have just found out about the inman aligner,i am really interested. How do i get advice on what is truly the best option for my teeth? I hope you can help… Regards

A. hi,
if the teeth affected are the ones between the anterior canines then it is likely it can be helped with the inman.
look for a dentist near you or if you prefer any of my clinincs will offer a free consultation.

Can I get finance for my cosmetic work done?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Q. hello i wanted to know if i could get finance for my cosmetic work done , but i am on state benefits at the moment would a dentist practice approve me or is it on the basis of you having a job thank you very much

A. Dental practices usually offer finance options through outside finance companies. These companies require all the same credit checks as applying for a credit car or loan.

I m 19 Can I replace front big teeth with small ones

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Q. Hi, my front two teeth are a lot bigger than the rest, making them look odd. I was recently thinking about having them removed and having smaller ones in place, but obviously i need to know about the options available. Please could you reply providing information on any treatments that would be suitable. I am 19 years old and i have had braces in the past which aligned my teeth, however the size of the front two ruins my smile. Thankyou Riten.

A. You really need to have a consultation to have your teeth assessed and measured.  You may be able to have the teeth reshaped but may need some orthodontics to close the spaces afterwards.  Sometimes the front teeth can be made smaller and the teeth next to them made a little wider to get a better smile.

What would be the cost to remove all of my teeth?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Q. i want to remove all of my teeth. i dont want bs i just want it done. how much will such an operation cost me?

A. this might sound like BS but it all depends on the number of teeth that need removing and what is put in their place.  I would budget from around £50 per tooth.

Enquiries on dental consultations

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Q. Hi My two front teeth protude outwards whilst my incisors next to them also but only slightly. This causes an overbite as the top and bottom jaws dont match up. I have no gaps and was wondering if the Inman aligner or 6 month smile will fix the overbite enough to stop the overlapping. Obviously, I would need a consultation which i dont mind but is there the optiom of free initial consultation so I have an idea of prices and what options are available at your clinic?? Thanks

How good is to replace old fillings with white fillings

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Q. Hi, I have a filling on either side of my top set of teeth and I feel that they were not done very well. They really stand out against the rest. I would love them to be replaced to look white rather than the grey/black they are at the moment. I wondered what my best course of action might be and whether you could advise me further?

A. Many thanks for your email, nowadays it is a very common treatment to have silver(amalgam) fillings replaced with white fillings. my advice is to seek out a cosmetic dentist in your local area and arrange for a consultation where they will then quote for the work, usually per white filling the cost can be from £100 – £250. white fillings are technique sensitive so make sure the dentist uses rubber dam and has a reasonable amount of experience doing the procedure. if all is carried out to a good standard expect the fillings to last 7-10 years.

Advice on gap between the back of the crowns and gums

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Q. I had an absess in my upper gum and even after treatment my tooth began to darken, last year I told my dentist this was a problem as it was at the front of my mouth and showed when I smiled. He chose to fit a crown, this was done last year and although I am getting used to it it still does not feel right. I have just been to a check up and mentioned my concern to my dentist but after checking it he says it is fine. I feel like there is a gap between the back of the crown and my gum and fear food, fizzy drink etc are getting in behind it, is this normal to feel this?

A. a second opinion might put your mind at rest. some practices like the StJohns Dental Practice in Birmingham city centre, offer a free initial consultation. Call 01216430610 for details

My 8yr old has a tooth condition how can it be treated?

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Q. Dear Dr. Moore, My 8 year daughter has a rare tooth condition and I am looking for someone who has heard, seen, or treated a similar case. Her top front 4 teeth have come in as two large teeth. She is a beautiful, outgoing, young girl but is already getting teased by the other kids. Any suggestions?

A. Its is very diffucult to treat this sort of problem at an early age as the mouth is changing all the time and any treatment can sometimes affect the new teeth coming through or made ned correcting every 6 months or so. However when the child is being teased and it  starts to affect their confidence I have been known to start the treatment very early and add or adjust things as the child grows and as new teeth come through. It case needs treating on its merits so if you would like me to take a look please contact me on enquiry@advancedentalclinic.com and I will be happy to arrange a full consultation.

Are veneers the quick fix to close gaps?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Q. Below is the Q&A from yesterday. I wondered whether you could clarify things for me. You said veneers are the quick fix, does that mean that you would always expect to close all gaps and never use veneers or does the bite determine this? I am aware I would need a retainer for a couple of years but what I don’t want is for my teeth to move to fill the gaps. Is it possible to use something behind the veneers to fill the gap to prevent the movement? Q. I am 41 and have had fixed braces for nearly 2 years after having had 4 teeth removed. My lower jaw is fine but I have been told that I will be left with gaps on my upper jaw behind my canines due to the size and shape of my teeth. Is this normal? It has been suggested that I now have 4 veneers to hide the gaps, is there any other alternative? Will the veneers stop my teeth from moving? A. The veneers would be a quick way of reducing the size of the gaps instead of the brace which can often take 1-2 years to close the gaps sufficiently. They don’t stop the teeth moving so a new retainer would be needed after they are fitted

A. It is possible to use a bonded retainer to prevent movement of the teeth but to give you more detailed information i would need to see you to assess the size of the spaces etc in more detail.
