Will the gold crown fitted will stop the tooth to flex?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Q. I have a fractured back tooth. My dentist finds that the nerve is not infected and I agree because it is not sensitive to hot and cold and if the tooth isn’t touched it feels okay. However, my concern is that the tooth is sensitive when under pressure and I presume this is because any pressure allows movement, however small, of the fracture. At the moment I have a temporary crown in place, awaiting a permanent fitting. Would it be expected that when the gold crown is fitted that will stop the ability of the tooth to flex. Can anything be done underneath the crown to gain stability? Many thanks.

A. When teeth have cracks we can never be deinite about whether the nerve has been affected.  Your dentist sounds as though he is doing the correct thing for you.  You may still need nerve treatment on the tooth if the tooth does not settle down

Is its correct to place cap on cracked tooth?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Q. I have pain in one of my back teeth which had an existing filling. My dentist took xrays and advised of a crack. He has now cut away half of the tooth and is intending to place a Prcelin cap on it in two weeks time costing £650. There is still a large crack running down the back of the tooth that is now visible. It it correct to place cap on this now? Thanks

A. They are trying to b ond the tooth together and prevent the crack spreading.  If this works your tooth should be fine for many years

Could you plz suggest some options to fund my dental treatment?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Q. hello sir Dr.Solanki, got 2thoot missing and 1front thoot in bad cond.wish to fix them asap, but havnt got all the money,so want to ask if ist possible pay any deposit, then pay monthly?i com from cz,live here from 2005,have ni number, bank acc.reference from my provident loans.thank you very much for replay.

A. Thanks for your enquiry, at a lot of practices, it is possible to apply for finance to spread the cost of your treatment. At many practices this can even be interest free, as you have been resident in the United Kingdom for more than three years, you should be able to make an application. I would expect you to have to provide both a proof of address and a proof of signtaure but I foresee no problems in qualifying to make an application. I hope this helps. Many Thanks.

The base of the cavity is bit dark after having molar tooth removed Is its normal?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Q. Hi, I’ve had a molar tooth removed recently after it fractured from eating food. I took some photos with my camera to see if it was healing well and i noticed that at the base of the cavity it looked quite dark, almost silvery like my other fillings. Is it normal to be this colour?, could the dentist have just left the lower part of my tooth etc in my jaw? Can i send the photo to get your judgement? Thanks

Could you Plz give some info on vampire teeth

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Q. I need to know of where I can get vampire teeth at?

A. Veneers or lumineers would be the normal way to achieve a semi permanant look but be aware that the human bite does not naturally conform the enlarged teeth and a higher rate of fracture / restoration debond is likely.
Also consider if you want Nosferatu middle fangs or Christopher Lee Style corner fangs
guide price £400-600 per tooth

No room in my mouth Is there any option to get incisor teeth?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Q. I was born without incisor teeth but the eye teeth grew in where the incisors should be. On the left side there is no gap for an incisor to go and on the right side, the gap is very small. My incisor teeth are right next to my front teeth. How do I get these teeth when there is no room in my mouth? what are my options?

A. You need to have a consultation the options would either be closing the residual spaces or opening the spaces and then adding 2 new teeth.

What is causing the numb sensation in my chin advice?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Q. hi i have some very bad broken off teeth and their decaying. i have had an abcess for three days now but i went to the dr and got penicillin i plan to have the tooth removed in a week or so. but my question is this the pain in my tooth has been pretty bad i started takeing the meds yesterday the penicillin and they gave me hydrocodone 5/500 the pain has eased off but today when i woke up i noticed that a part of chin has a numb sensation about it i can feel when i touch it but it just dont feel right what could be causeing this? its got me really worried thanks.

A.

The cause of your numbness is compression of the nerves in that part of your face due to an abscess on your tooth.  Once this swelling has gone your sensations should return to normal.  Please try and have your teeth treated.  If you are very nervous sedation is a good option to help you cope.  We certainly offer this service at Aviva Cosmetic Dentistry

I fell off my bike and broke my teeth what treatment can u recommend?

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Q. hi there i am 18 in march .i fell off my bike when i was younger and totally shattered all my front teeth.they look terrible.i am increasingly aware of how bad they look.i would love to have full teeth and have them all white.what do you recommend and how much will it cost me.please email me back as soon as possible.i am looking to have the procedure done just after march 2010.

A.

I would suggest that you have a few different consultations with cosmetic dentists and also preview their work to discuss what your desired results are and what would be achievable.

Each individual practice will have different prices for there treatments and also use different laboratory’s so the cost is dependant upon which practice you decide to have your treatment with.

I would highly suggest you shop around to find a dentist you feel confident in achieving your desired aesthetic result.

I extracted a fractured tooth and pain resurfaces after 6 years advice

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Q. Dear Dr.Safeer Butt DURING THE EARLY YEARS OF MY STUDENT LIFE in SCHOOL I HAD A FALL AND SUSTAINED A FRACTURE RIGHT UPPER CANINE AND LOSS OF VIABILITY OF CENTRAL INCISOR ON UPPER RIGHT TOOTH. INITIALLY THERE WAS NO ANY PROBLEMS. AFTER COMPLETING MY SCHOOLING I HAD STEEPED IN TO THE COLLEGE IT HAD STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS LIKE PAIN AND SWELLING. IT USED TO SUBSIDE WITH ANTIBIOTICS USAGE. AFTER COMPLETING THE SCOOLING STEPPED IN TO THE PG COURSE ALSO IT WAS THE SAME SCENARIO. THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE PAIN IN TOOTH. IT WAS SO HAPPENED I CONSULTED THE DENTIST HE HAD SUGGESTED ME THE CHOICE OF RCT AND ALONG WITH THE EXTRACTION OF THE FRACTURED TOOTH CANINE. UNDERWENT THE EXTRACTION. RCT WAS CARRIED OUT. NO PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST 5 TO 7 YRS. GADUALLY THE PAIN RE APPEARED AND STARTED WITH ANTIBIOTICS IN BETWEEN THERE WAS A FACTURE OF CROWN 1 YR AGO AND THE BRIDGE WAS RE CONSTRUCTED. NOW THE PAIN RE APPEARS ONCE IN 6 MONTHS. SUBSIDES WITH ANTIBIOTICS. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT? KINDLY GIVE ME YOUR VALUABLE SUGEESTIONS, OPINIONS AND FURTHER MANAGERIAL LINES. THANKING YOU.

A. you need to isolate the pathology and if the tooth has already been root filled consider the place ment of an implant

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Q. have had a permnement 5 teeth 2front eye tooth ,2 sides next to them bridge 12 yrs in..just fell out on it’s own . no hurting, just fell out. same day went to dentist, said it broke off both teeth that held the bridge on..put in plastic barb one side medal barb where front tooth was.been very painful for 2 months under the front tooth only,i have no 5 teeth mind you. just bridge.he said i probably fractured the root. never ever hurt before he really driled out the ,i assume the excess part of the tooth broken off at gum line both doctors are stumped as to why it hurts so bad.. i’ve also had root canal on it , over the yrs.never a problem in 12 yrs, till bridge was reattached..can’t front bite like hamberger bun or soft slices of peaches, without it causeing pain, sometimes very bad through the whole night.been on z-pac 5 days now another z-pac.any idea of what is happening? any answer would be very much appreciated.

What is my best move now I am on tax credit just now but dont know what to do for the best ? can u give me options of what to do next ? Personally i think he is dodging the issue and trying to palm me off with telling me to apply colgate sensitive paste on tooth every night to calm my pain .can u get a replacement crown on nhs?
