I need to have a good smile but I dont deal with pain very well pls advice

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Julian, I am 43 yrs old have a wife with perfect teeh, and 2 kids boy 12 wearing braces and a 14 yr teenage girl who doesn’t need braces Yet? As for me well i think i’ve reached rock bottom. I have 4 wisdom teeth that probably need to come out, discolored teeth my front toohhave colored patches, my bottom left tooth is behind and under my tongue very noticeable, and not tomention my left frot tooth is graying and just recently is moving. Since i was a little kid i’have had bad teeth. i was to get braces when i was young but parents could not afford. Many times going to the dentist during regular cavity fixes the novacane did not work i felt pain and disconfort during drilling and i kept getting the its all in your head, i’m almost done, and many other painful experiences. as of 18 we have to pay for dental and with the experiences i’va had i stayed away from dentists. I brush every day though i could have done better. I know it sounds stupid and imature, but i almost don’t want to hear the bad news. I defentaley don’t have the money cause we still have another 17 months for my son’s braces. I know we are long distance, and i know you canot see my teeth, is there any hope for a good looking man in shape bur ad teeth. PS since the horror experiences i don’t deal with pain very well! i would have to be put asleep fo all the work. And i know it can’t be done in one visit. I guess i’m looking for a magical answer. My wish is to smile without out holding back. without any concern.

What can be done to make my teeth healthier?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was wondering if there is anything that can be done to make your teeth healthier if they are not as healthy as they should be? I know the normal flossing, brushing, healthy eating and mouthwash but can i be doing anything more? I am terrified of dentists and have recently been for a checkup after about 10 years of not going. My teeth are not too bad, i have been told but i have a wisdom tooth that needs to come out( which has just broken on me). I have also had a filling fall out a few years ago but due to my fear did not get it sorted out but now the dentist says that the gum has grown up though the whole. My dentist says that it has to be removed but when i went for the xrays the dentist at the hospital said that i could have a rootcanal instead which would save the tooth. Apart from the gum thing the tooth is healthy and the roots and centre of the tooth are absolutely fine. How will a root canal help the gum issue? Thank you for taking the time to reply.

What does pain in cheek and no actual pain in teeth signify?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Q.
Five months ago I had one of my front teeth removed and a partial pallet fitted. Two days ago I started getting pain in my cheek and now my cheek is swollen. If I smile or try to move my mouth I have severe pain in my cheek and along my top jaw. I am just assuming I have an abcess or infection. I have no actual pain in my teeth. I am terrified of Dentist’s could you please advise me what I should do.
