My incisor teeth have become very sensitive. What can I do to protect them?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
My front two incisor teeth have become very sensitive. This happened quite suddenly when I was at a cinema and eating sweets. The bottom lining of my incisor has become very sensitive, this sensitivity is exacerbated when I suck air through my teeth and I can feel the sensitivity. This occurred over the past few days and immediately I have switched to pro enamel toothpaste and I am going to make an appointment with my dentist about this. I am 20 years old, and while I have not taken great care in the past (I had 2 root canals) nowadays I am quite meticulous about my dental care, so this occurring now is quite baffling. I use an electric Oral B toothbrush and I don’t know the reason for this, has my enamel worn away due to excessive brushing or poor care taking. This sensitivity is heightened when I eat food which predominantly uses my incisors such as sandwiches or snacks. What should I do to protect my teeth?,

Daughter’s teeth are yellow and dentist says she could undergo teeth whitening, but can she?

Friday, August 13th, 2010
Q.
Hi. My 13yr old daughter has always had very yellow, badly ‘stained’ looking 2nd teeth (especially 1 at the front). My dentist informs me that she COULD undergo some degree of whitening at this age.She is so self-conscious of them that she only smiles with closed mouth. I’d be grateful if you could give me any info about proceedures, costs etc. My budget it very limited – she has been living in Johannesburg for the last 5 yrs, and she only comes back occassionally -all my money goes on this. Thank you very much for reading this. ,

Will bonding have bad effects on my tooth enamel?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
I am considering 6 month smile treatment after rejecting Clearstep for both cost and length of treatment. Is there any possibility that this new treatment can have an adverse effect on the tooth enamel as it is ‘bonded’ onto the teeth? I’m 55 if that makes any difference.,

The Enlighten Teeth Whitening treatment didn’t work, what should I do now?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have had a similar problem with Enlighten Teeth Whitening. I completed the 2 week course and only half of my teeth whitened. Half nearest the gum did not. Then I went back to the dentsit to get the two 20 minute boosters. My teeth did look really white but now do not and the pain was really bad. Would I be ok to carry on whitening for another 2 weeks as I am worried about my enamel and if so do I need the two 20 minute gels applied again. Many Thanks in advance.,
