Are Emax Veneers Good Quality Veneers?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2015
Q.

I had CEREC veneers done 2.5 years ago. Last week one broke off (it was my UL4) it came off whilst eating a soft bread roll & had snapped in two (the larger bit I rescued the small top bit I accidentally swallowed) I went back to the dentist who carried out the work and there is a new dentist there who informed me that the tooth in question has little enamel left, it is mainly dentin. I’d like to have the veneer replaced but the dentist can’t guarantee it will bond, and if it comes off I’ll have to pay £550 again for another one. He plans to use an Emax veneer, are these good quality reputable veneers? He did say a crown is another option (at the same cost, however this may result in needing root canal later, again costing money). I’m unsure as to what would be the best option and wonder if there should be any guarantee? My original CEREC came with a 2 year guarantee but I now seem to be getting offered nothing and ultimately fear I could end up spending £500+ on one tooth more regularly than I’d like to.

Would Teeth Whitening Cover Up Enamel Loss?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I have some tooth enamel loss in one of my front teeth, and a little of the other front tooth. I’d like to know, would teeth whitening whiten and cover up the enamel loss area affected, or would I need to consider veneers? My teeth otherwise are straight and no cracks or problems with them, just some obvious enamel loss in my front teeth. Also if I get my teeth whitened how long in general should the whitening last on the teeth? Hope you can help. Thanks and regards.

20 Dental Implants In Hungary Would Cost Around £10,000. What Would It Cost Here As A Ball Park Figure?

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. My NHS dentist recently said I should consider going private for a full mouth restoration. I have severe sensitivity and loss of enamel. I have lost many teeth and struggle now to hold my top dentures in. How much roughly, ball park prices would I be looking at to have it done here rather than abroad?
With I think up to 20 implants in Hungary for example would be around £10,000.
What would it be here?
Thank you.

Dear Andrew, I Have Noticed Some Enamel Loss Recently. Is There Any Way To Replace The Enamel I’ve Lost?

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014
Q.

Dear Andrew,

My teeth are in generally good health and I do not suffer from any sort of pain. However over the last few months I have noticed that my two upper right sided incisors have had some enamel loss, which has probably happened over time and therefore they are now shorter than my left sided incisors which looks quite odd. Is there any way to replace, naturally or artificially, the enamel which has been lost from a cosmetic point of view? Thank you, I hope you can help me with my enquiry.

I Have Very Little Enamel On My Teeth, Can There Really Be Nothing Done To Make Them Straight And White?

Thursday, September 19th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Dr Shaffie. My mum was ill when she was pregnant with me and the medication she took made my adult teeth come through with very little enamel on them. My dentist told me there was nothing that could be done to make them white. I had braces when I was a teenager but I was told that my jaw needed breaking for the teeth to stay straight and my dentist said that wiring my jaw shut meant my teeth wouldn’t get the proper cleaning they needed and because of my lack of enamel and they’d rot. So now I’m stick with yellow crooked teeth. Is there really nothing that can be done? I would literally do anything to have lovely straight white teeth. I really hope you can help me with this. Thank You.

Q.

Hi my teeth have lost loads of enamel on my teeth. i have several crowns due to this and bonding on the majority of my back teeth which comes away several times a year which they replace. i have looked at dental implants but would like to know a little more to see if this procedure is for me. I saw an advert about where you can have it done in a day but cannot find any details about it. i pay privately for my dental treatment each month. but they are reluctant to do any thing else for me. i have i think two 3-4 crown on the back teeth and an awaiting a further one and my front top four are crowned, the front ones are very old now.

What would be the best way to fill in a gap between my teeth?

Thursday, August 11th, 2011
Q.

I currently have a gap, top set, 5th from the front. I no longer want the gap as it’s effecting my confidence making me conscious when I smile. I have looked into having a bridge but didn’t know if I can if the teeth either side of the gap have fillings in and if not what are my options? I have had the gap for over 6 months. Also other than brushing, flossing, mouth wash, avoiding sugary foods as much as possible what else can I do to care for my teeth as they seem to be made of chalk and crumble!

My receding gums are causing the enamel to wear away, can I have treatment to stop decay?

Monday, February 21st, 2011
Q.

Hi,

I have receding gums (I am 35) and on some of the front teeth the enamel is wearing away. I am concerned about getting cavities if this continues (as I have cavities on 3 wisdom teeth already). Is there anything I can do to prevent the gums receding but also protect the enamel i.e. can you have a small filling put over the place where the enamel has worn away?

Many thanks for your advice

My teeth have weak enamel and are staining easily, what can you recommend until I can afford veneers?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011
Q.

I had really bad teeth when I was younger and had various retainers and wore braces for almost 3 years. I’m now 18 and have had my braces off for 2 years. My teeth have moved slightly but that isn’t particularly what is bothering me, I have really weak enamel on my teeth which is noticable and is getting worse at a rapid rate. My teeth have also now started to stain, they’ve always been quite yellow and I was told I couldn’t get them whitened due to my enamel. I was advised to get veneers which will cost around £3000. I’ve never been confident because of my teeth and now I’m starting to get really upset about it. At 18 I doubt I can get any form of credit to pay for it and it will take me years to save up which will only mean they’ll get worse. Is there any way the NHS can cover any of the cost or is all cosmetic dentistry private now? Also have you got any advice on how I could improve my teeth until i can afford veneers?
