I Have Recently Lost Five Stone, But I Fear My Diet Is Rotting My Teeth. What Minerals Should I Be Taking?

Thursday, August 29th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I have been following a famous diet plan for the last three years and attend its classes. I have successfully lost five stone but I have noticed that in the last three years my teeth have deteriorated, I’ve had to have three back teeth removed, have one crown and I’m now suffering toothache and crumbling teeth in my last back tooth. I’ve also noticed my front teeth getting weaker and feeling sharp parts of my tongue. Could this be due to the diet I’m following? Am I possibly lacking vitamins? I’m only 33 and really worried about losing my teeth. Up until three years ago I had pretty good teeth.

Thank you, any information yo can provide will be helpful.

My Teeth Are Turning Transparent, What Can I Do About This?

Thursday, July 4th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Andrew
I desperately need your advice, just recently I have noticed all my teeth are becoming transparent at the ends. I’m 42yrs old and I have had really nice lovely white teeth all my life and now I’m faced with this. I don’t know why this has happened! It’s really scaring me, I am so scared that I will loose my teeth or the color will not return. I guess my diet has affected my teeth, I drink coffee which I never used to and I have recently started a Jason Vale juicing programme. Could this be causing the problem do you think? I also drink red wine and eat a lot of homemade curries. Can you please advise on what I can do to restore my teeth to their natural color? Thank you so much in advance, I just want to get this sorted before they get any worse. Kind regards.

My granddaughters teeth have rotted all the way up to her gums, what should I do?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012
Q.

Hi there, I wondered if you could help me? My 5 year old grand daughter has very rotten teeth which have reached gum level they are now rotting in the gum and she is in pain this in turn is causing her to have ear ache. what is the remedy for this? They are still her milk teeth. BUT…Will the adult teeth grow and push these out since they have receded into the gum or will she need an operation to remove them? She has had this problem for the past few days and have been treating her with ponstan for the pain and some olive oil in the ear for the pain there. Thank you in advance for the advice.

Will lumineers be the best option to treat the damage caused by acid erosion?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
Q.

Dear Rob,

I’m 20 years old and have extremely sensitive teeth. Notably, this because I’ve suffered bad acid erosion to my teeth due to the diet during my younger years (As a further consequence, the enamel on my front teeth is very thin). Cold and hot foods/ drinks give me a very sharp and agonising pain. Even when I eat foods that aren’t affected by tempature such as chocolate, I feel a painful sensation that goes directly to my back teeth.

I’ve been looking into Lumineers as a way of correcting this problem. I was wondering because of my extreme tooth sensitivity would I be eligible to have them done on the NHS? I’ve decided against traditional veneers because of the unecessary tooth reduction and the fact that I do still have healthy teeth.

Thank you
